Hooray Rusty is swimming (photos too)

We've just let the doods head into the water at their own speed. I'm a bit cautious after our last dog jumped into a pool
and sunk to the bottom. Had to jump in to save it. Poor dog never did learn to swim.
In the last couple of months Rusty and Lucee have been heading further into the water when we go to the beach.
Rusty is now swimming in the bay! Looks a bit like the Lochness monster but he is swimming!

We can't keep him out of the water now! Poor little guy I've had to trim the hair on his head so he can see where he is swimming.

I think with the warmer weather he is enjoying the cool water and yes those are dark clouds in the background horizon.

Reminds me of a moose in this photo

He does these doodle 500 laps of honour when he gets out of the water and then it's back in again!

There are lots of other dogs playing fetch in the water. This cute little guy came sailing past Rusty with a stick bigger than he was.

Lucee still hasn't done any real deep swimming yet. She goes in to about where she can barely touch and then leaves
the ball fetching to Rusty. She still comes home a drowned sandy rat

Great pics Ingrid - even with a life jacket, Annabelle doesnt like the water - if her feet arent touching bottom, she is outta there

Hahahaha...Rusty does indeed look like a moose, and moose love to swim!!! Great pics Ingrid....it's so nice to see warm weather when it's below 0 here!!

Those are the greatest pics!!! - I'm looking fondly at 2 soggy doods playing at the beach while the temp here is -5 Frenheit!! - Thats just torture!!! Enjoy the warm weather!! Like Gene said - a foot of snow

Great pictures! I love see doodles swimming.

Last summer I tried to get Charlie in the water a bit but the ocean water was salty and giving him tummy problems so I had to back off. He liked playing along the shore but never actually was swimming. Maybe next summer!

Good job Rusty!! Cinnamon loves to swim. We don't have an ocean, but I'm sure if we did, she's be in it.

Those are great photos! I love the "moose" one!

Dex is our swimmer - Kirby not so much (must be the lab vs setter thing). Dex finally started swimming in the ocean/bay last summer. He "learned" from another doodle at the dog beach - I was so excited...I think the others at the beach thought i was nuts

Ahhhhh, it was only a matter of time!!!! wonderful pics! I love the "moose" pic. this past summer we had Dakota fetching balls from the lake and one of the fly fishermen said if only Dakota had horns, he'd look just like a goat!!!

Isn't swimming fun Rusty!!!

Maya and her BFF Tori love to swim. I have a baby pool for them in the summer. It isn't deep enough for them to swim in but they try. They will try to scrunch their legs really close to their bodies and then paddle. It doesn't work but it doesn't keep them from trying.

Rusty:

Try wave jumping and surfing. That is a lot of fun too!!

Great pictures! I love the last one of Rusty diving OVER the waves!! Tyke loves splashing around in the water, but at this point still feels more secure if her feet are touching the bottom - maybe this summer she will take the plunge!
