Default Tyke's tummy troubles!

Poor Tyke has an upset tummy! Saturday, Jim and I went with some friends to an oyster roast in Charleston. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a dog-friendly event, so Tyke stayed home with BaBa. She looked really upset that she wasn't getting to go (she usually goes EVERYWHERE with me on the weekends!) I called Mom to tell her we might be about an hour late, because we were going to stop for a bite to eat before we left Charleston. I told her we wouldn't be late (about , and I'd feed Tyke when I got home.
By the time we got home, Tyke had already thrown up - I thought it might have just been that "thing" that labradoodles do at night with an empty stomach, but it was only about an hour later than she normally eats, plus, she was pooping as well. I tried to get her to eat a little something, and even scrambled up an egg for her, but she wouldn't even look at it. She didn't ACT as if she felt bad, but I was still worried. I took her to bed, and she slept all night long, got up the next morning, had another runny poop, and threw up a little bile. By mid morning, she looked hungry, so I got a small can of Spot's Stew (it has a lot of water in it, and I thought it might be easier on her tummy). She gobbled it up, and seemed to feel a lot better from then on.
We went to bed last night, and I had to get up twice with Tyke to let her go poop. (sorry to be so gross, but it SOUNDED pretty runny - I couldn't see it at 1 AM!). I told Baba this morning, because I thought she might have to go again after I left.
Well, she pooped THREE times for BaBa, and Mom took a sample down to our vet to check it. Dr. Campbell said everything looked ok, other than the fact that it was runny, and to not feed her much tonight and see if whatever her problem was would run its course....so we are waiting to see.

Poor Tyke is HUNGRY!!! She's so pitiful - she keeps going to her bowl and looking at me, as if she is saying "Mom, it's EMPTY - FEED MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! " She still seems to feel ok, but I didn't take her running this afternoon - didn't want her to get too active or overheated. Any suggestions for something I could give her just a little of that would take the edge off her hunger, but not upset her poor stomach???

I don't know for sure but there have been other posts about boiled chicken and rice. Maybe others will know better. I hope Tyke is better soon! I went to check the spelling of Tyke's name and saw that doodledash had beat me to the punch!

It's tough....but they say the 24 hour fast is the best thing for them. She won't starve......but she'll make you feel like you are!! I'm a softie, but it's best for them.......

Tyke and I just came back from the store - went to get some rice and chicken tenders to boil for her! I don't want to fill her up, but I think her tummy might feel a little better if it has just a little something in it! (She did a doodle 500 in the yard when we got home, by the way, so at least she doesn't FEEL sick!)

Thanks for the comments on her name - she's actually named for a border collie buddy of mine who ran with me during my college days! When I looked up the definition and saw that it also meant a mischievous child AND a mixed-breed dog, I knew there was no other name for THIS doodle!!!!

I give the girls boiled hamburger and rice until the stool firms up (usu I don't see a stool for almost 24 hrs then everything is firm again) and then will mix in kibble with the rice and burger for a few days just to make sure.

Daisy had to have small meals of hamburger and rice for 2 days when she ate acorns. The bad part was when it was time to go back to kibble, she looked at me like I was nuts. Where's my so-and-so home cooked meal, lady?

That's what I'm afraid of! I'll have to wean her off the "good stuff" gradually! She ate her rice and a little chicken and is begging for more! I think we've got enough in that tummy for tonight, however...maybe when she wakes up, she can have chicken and rice for breakfast!!!

Tyke, Daisy says to milk the "my tummy hurts" look for all it's worth. The payoff is worth it!

I have a feeling Tyke and Little Miss Daisy would be a DANGEROUS pair!!

We are off to bed and Tyke seems to be feeling better. She had a little chicken and rice, and no poops before bedtime, although I may have to help her answer "the call of nature" later! She's snuggled up in my bed ( on MY pillow, no less) right now! Here's hoping for sweet doodle dreams tonight and firm poopies tomorrow!
