Anyone with a sibling knows this rule. You can pick on, beat up, harass your brother or sister all you want but nobody else better think about it.
We go to the dog park most weekends so that Charlie and Wayne can socialize and get a good run. It's not a huge park so the dogs are in close contact with each other. Charlie likes to keep close tabs on Wayne. Despite other dogs to play with, he still prefers to chase Wayne around and wrestle him to the ground. His favorite move is a take down by grabbing a back leg. Wayne does pretty well but occasionally baits the wrong dog. This other dog started getting pretty aggressive. Wayne was trying to run away but the dog was chasing him and grabbing him by the neck. Charlie immediately knew how to handle the situation. He ran full speed between Wayne and the other dog effectively cutting the bad dog off. I was totally amazed by his finesse. Wayne was rescued and play continued. Deb

If Parker is having too much fun with another dog, Sofie gets in between them, breaks it up, and "takes Parker DOWN"!!

Leslie, we get the ganging up problem when there is only one other dog. Charlie and Wayne both want the attention of the new guy and can be relentless. Luckily, Wayne can always be distracted with a tennis ball. Deb

Hey Charlie will you come to the dog park and protect me from an aggressive dog?...Abby
On our last trip to the park there was an aggressive dog that kept knocking Abby down. The owner thought his dog was quite kool and laughed as the dog got more aggressive grabbing Abby by the back of the neck. I called Abby and had her lay down until the jerk came and got his dog he was still laughing. I wanted to grab him by the back of the neck and rub his face in the mud--BUT I DIDN'T

Deb,
At least you "observed" it. Most people don't even WATCH their dogs at a dog park. Jazz is way toooooo friendly and easily intimidated (I think she prefer HUMANS to dogs as she tends to visit all the "parents" more than the dogs I bet you were very "proud" -- I'd have been standin there "grinning". |

Looks like Wayne and Charlie have become a strong team!
Love the story Deb and it is so heartwarming to hear how well they have bonded. Our two prefer to play with each other on the dog beach though Rusty's favourite take down is grabbing Lucee's tail
