Does anyone else have a dog that can LEAP up onto the kitchen table?
I've gone away for a few days from home to visit college grad programs. I've left Napa in the loving care of my parents, and to my surprise they called me and told me that Napa is openly LEAPING onto the table in front of them. He started a few days before I left to jump up at me. At the time I didn't understand why the dog who didn't like to jump PERIOD suddenly would leap all four legs off the ground.... but I think it was the first sign that something we didn't know was going on when we weren't home... See, my parents have allowed Napa to be free in the kitchen since we came to RI, so he must be getting bored while he's home alone and has taught himself how to leap up onto the table!!!!! So, does anyone have any ideas how to seriously nip this in the bud?!?! I can't believe that my little puppy has learned how to jump onto the table!!!! And its not like this is even remotely healthy for his front legs!!!! Sometimes I just shake my head at him.... >.< So here's the video of him!!!! Hope it makes you laugh!

Hamish was a SERIOUS counter surfer - a friend of our told us to set a whole slew of dollar store mouse trap on the counters - they don't actually catch their paws - but it scares the curls off of them!!! - worked for us

You can also place a single layer of newspaper on top of the mouse traps. This is an old trick used to keep cats off of counters, tables, etc.

hehe...sorry to laugh
That's a tough one...I've heard about putting aluminum foil on the surface so the noise would scare them when they jump up... GOod luck.

There was another thread that said take those plastic rug runners that have little bumps that hold it to the carpet and turn it upside down. Might be easier than mouse traps. The dogs don't like the pointy things on their feet.

hmmmm i guess you're going to have to lay tin pans cookie sheets and mouse traps upside down to scare the beejeebers out of Napa? if not catch him in the act and say no then distract him with a toy etc

I am sorry I would have been a little more loud and grumpy sounding for that action (I am not as patient as you) ! I have to say he has guts to do it in front of you. I also have to admit I laughed too!
