that is one of the funniest doodle videos I've ever seen (sorry I'm sure it's not so funny for you). He jumps so effortlessly

Kathie, you'll have to make Raleigh "look away from the monitor" if you watch that video again since he clearly likes to watch T.V. and the computer!
I know Cali could not leap that high without a running jump and even then.... Wow, Napa really is cat-like!

Thanks! You should see how he greats people too.... he acts like a cat! He does the whole rub against your leg thing!!!!
And I didn't want to get mad at him since I did "tap" the table to get him to do that in the first place. If you listen closely at the beginning you can hear the knock three times. Plus, my airline trips this past weekend resulted in a killer cold!!! So, I sound terrible and I didn't want to blast the camera volume!!

Hey Kristen - you may be onto something. If you can train Napa to jump up on the table on command and off on command, maybe he'll learn to only jump up there when you tell him to? It's probably a long shot, but maybe worth a try?
Oh - we swear Kirby is really a cat too. He jumps up effortlessly (like Napa did), he rubs against our legs. The biggest one is that he is naturally leary of strangers (unlike Dexter) and takes a bit to warm up to human strangers. However once he likes you he is very very loving

Awww, Napa is such a cutie pie...wow! He has had a haircut!
He is very Poodly with his ability to jump up and the "cat-like" rubbing...my Poodle does both...only he would never jump on the table, I think he's afraid of it. I don't have any advice but maybe a warning...be careful with the type of method you choose, you don't want Napa to jump up, have the noise or mouse traps going on and scare him so much that he slides and hurts his legs...for those of you who don't know, Napa has had several operations for leg problems...although you wouldn't know it from his new trick! |

Yup, you'd never know he had issues with his growth plates and his legs are kinda messed up (without going into great detail- though that's not the best description of it!)
Well, I like the idea of only allowing him up on our command, but that doesn't work with the bed.... and when my brother got home he saw that Napa was up on the table again. I'm contemplating if he's just bored. But, I'm afraid to give him food treats (kong or treat filled something). He's not aggressive with them, but he tries to run away with them from Striker.... He's never growled or overly protected it, but he doesn't share. Do you think it would be safe? I just don't want something to happen when we're not here!

What about doing like cafes do and put the chairs upside down on it, at least while you are gone? I mean he can see something is on the table and won't jump right? I have piled stuff all over the place to keep my dogs out of things and it has worked for me.

Wow that was amazing - I had to make Hamish leave the room before I watched - don't want him getting any new tricks from his friends!!! - Good Luck Kristen - maybe those upside down rug runners would allow him to jump up without getting hurt - but have him not like the feeling once he gets up there - it's worth a try - I'm glad you proof though - just in case you get him to stop!! - you'll look back at this and laugh some day!!!

That is funny.... as long as it's not my doodle.. LOL
I wonder if he jumped up because there is a table cloth on the table? Maybe thinking it was a couch or chair?? Just a thought, I don't use table cloths on a daily basis.

That was quite a jump. Sadie jumps about that high sometimes, but hasn't gotten onto furniture yet. Good luck keeping him off when there is yummy food up there!

First off, he is adorable and I love how he stands with his feet slightly outward like a dancer. Second, HAHAHHAHHAA! Maybe he is doing it cause your mom is so darn calm about getting him off!!!
I have no advice but thanks for the cute video!
