I just saw this and my heart skipped a beat, I'm so glad she is ok.
My Sadie did something similar. I do have a fenced yard and when she was smaller she squeezed under the gate to the driveway. I was hauling branches out to the street to be picked up and she was in the back yard. I knew she couldn't fit under the gate on her belly and wasn't too concerned as she got excited as I would come and go. I was at the street and she came flying down the driveway and right across my busy street to a man mowing a lawn across the road. Luckily she came back to me and it was a Sunday morning, so not a lot of traffic but she had crossed. My heart sank until I had her. At that point I didn't know how she got out so I tried it again and saw she laid on her side and wiggled her way under the gate I do make her sit and wait before going outside and tell her ok before she goes. Same with in and out of the car, she waits for my command. But when someone is on the other side of the door she doesn't always listen so I do hold on to her because she has squeezed out as a pup and was caught by the visitor she went to greet. I'm glad to hear she is doing ok and hope you never have to experience this again.. good luck.

Hope Sadie continues to heal. So glad it was not more serious. Wonder if she'll remember it and what she will do next time she sees cars up close...

Thank you for all the well wishes... Sadie is doing really well. She still has this pesky UTI so she needs lots of potty breaks and often one in the middle of the night which isn't fun in our sub zero temperatures as of late. (a small penance to pay for still having our dog alive)
She isn't nearly as sore as she was and is pretty much back to normal. We are certainly being sticklers for giving permission to go through doors. She was always good about sitting first, but she often was on her way as we said ok..not anymore, the door gets shut in her face if she goes before we say it. She's getting pretty good about looking up at me from her sit for the final ok to go. We need to practice it with our front door (the one she bolted from), but it's hard to remember since we never go out that way. Once the weather warms to above freezing it should be more convenient to practice - a high of +2 predicted for Chicago on Thursday.

What a nightmare! I am so glad that she was okay...and i am very impressed with you...taking her to the vet to verify that she was okay...even when one vet gave you the all clear. Good Doodle parents, you are! (Yes, you are...don't feel guilty...many of us have had our dogs run out and get away from us...no one is going to judge you or shame you!)

Oh what a fright that had to have been!
Like Kids, they can be so quick and catch us unaware just long enough to sneak by occasionally. It's bound to happen once in a while but thank God she's alright.
