Default Carrots I don't think so or say what you feeding me now?

I did as you all suggested I added carrots to Tia's and Buddy's food. We now have a carrot floor! Guess who gets to clean it up! They ate the green beans, peas, cheese, kibble, and yams and spit the carrots all over. They couldn't just leave them in the bowl, nooooooo they chewed them and spread them from the kitchen to the living room and a few on the stairs! I got the hint when I brought my bare foot down on the pieces of a carrot in the dark and almost fell back on my bum from the shock. Of course I did not think it was a bunch of wet slobbery pieces of carrot my dogs hated! I thought we had some kind of weird bug running around our house. We do, a slimy carrot spit bug! YUCK!!! Oh they love carrots, cooked, with ranch dressing, grated in yummy food but raw.....NO! I tried to make Tia eat the ones on the floor..... Mistake! She chewed them in even smaller pieces and spit them out on my toes!!! Ok no more carrots unless cooked!

Maybe I should send my pack over to clean up for you, Kathy....they luuurve raw carrots, and lick up every scrap too!! I'm intrigued that you feed them yams....they're impossibly expensive over here guess we're paying a lot for importing them

Mine will eat the raw carrots. Sadie wouldn't at first until she saw Maya and me eat one then she wanted one.

hahahaha - Lily's *thing* is peas. She hates them; that is her opinion, and she's sticking to it!

On the rare occassion around here that we actually get to eat a *real* meal, we always prepare a little plate for the doggie family members when we're through. Everytime we have mashed potatoes and peas, we'll mix them up real well, add a little of the dinner meat and each dog gets a little of this *special* treat. They all devour it - except Lily! When we pick up the plates, everyone's is spotless. Lily's has *spots*! All of her peas are "clean as a whistle", piled up in her dish (the meat and mashed potatoes are long gone though). I want to know how she gets all of the peas separated from the mashed potatoes - and leaves them so clean! She does this every time she is given peas, no matter how you try to disguise them - she's not falling for it!

Oh, but carrots - she loves them!

Dakota loves raw carrots when he's in the mood--when he's not, they wind up on the carpet!

But I must digress as this reminds me too much of what happed at our lake house a few yers ago. Deer wander around the neighborhood looking for treats. We don't make a habit of feeding them but when we head home we clean the refer out and "dispose" of leftovers outdoors for the critters. I had some watermelon to offer when a couple of does and a young buck came along. I diced it up--rind and all-- and offered it first to the does that ate it all very gratefully! I then gave a big chunk to the buck. He chewed and chewed and chewed for the loooooongest time. Finally, out pops the rind--clean as a whistle!!!!! And off he went for better treats somewhere else!!!!!

These are DOGS NOT RABBITS...THEY EAT MEAT!!! Why make your dogs uncomfortable by giving them useless foods to stray about the feeding area and upset their digestive tracts. This Makes no sense. I may have to stay away from some of these ridiculous dietary threads. And PLease Don't anthropomorphize telling me 'they like them' Kids live for pure sugar, candy, cakes, yet is that the diet you want them on??

Are you saying it's bad to feed raw veggies to a dog who likes them? I don't know maybe I am understanding you wrong. It's ok if you feel that way - I just want to understand your post and you may have been talking about something else.

To each their own - I don't agree w/all the RAW meat feeding, but everyone is entitled to their own opinon.

Some like them; some don't.
My Springer LOVED carrots when he was a pupple and then he started spitting them out too!
Bogart the same thing. I even have a pupple picture of him somewhere showing him with a carrot in his mouth and then the pieces all around which he didn't care to pick up either!
Carrots aren't a suggestion for a diet. Leslie and I both suggested carrots as a possibility of a treat. Well, it didn't work! Sorry you wound up with carrot under foot in the middle of the night!
I don't exactly see it as a useless dietary thread per se.
Okay.......Lets all be HAPPY!!

There really are better ways to handle a thread that you do not like , just leave your comments aside and
continue on..........we all have different opinions about what is healthy and what is not and we can manage to do it
without calling anything ridiculous that may mean so much to the person posing the question to begin with...........
