Hi Karl and Sue, welcome! I agree with Maureen's question...and would strongly advise you to consider getting a dog from a reputable breeder. It is really wonderful when people adopt rescue dogs and can give them good homes, but often people don't consider that for the investment you make into a rescue dog, you would be half way to paying for a puppy from a breeder who carefully selected and tested the parents and who offer good health warranties. Now this is not only important for you as an owner, but also for the puppy you would be getting. Breeders who are carefully breeding are doing so to enhance the breed and produce healthy, happy puppies who will live long, pain-free lives.
When you get a shelter or rescue dog, you may well be doing a wonderful thing for the puppy or dog, but you may be getting a pet with potential health issues that may inhibit your complete enjoyment...and it may end up costing you much more, when you consider health care and vet fees.
Either way, whatever you decide, I hope that you will continue to post and introduce us to your new pup!
