Default RAW feeders....

So Maya and Sadie have been on RAW for about a month. They are still on chicken with no organs. They pretty much have had runny poo the whole time. For the first 3 weeks I was feeding wings and thighs and drumsticks. Well I looked at the package and all these products were enhanced. So I made sure to get unenhanced last week and I found leg quaters. They love them but still runny poo. What am I doing wrong? Please help I don't want to go back to McKibble but I don't want to be getting up every night for potty runs

Heather! You may be guilty of TGAMS (Too Good A Mom Syndrome) How much do they weigh?
Remember the formula is 2-3% of body weight. If you are feeding 3% and getting runny poo then cut back to 2% or 1.75%. Runny Poo is a direct result of Over feeding aka TGAMS
Ex: Abby is 54#'s X .02=1.08lbs per day. Feeding Chicken Quarters gives you a good meat/bone ratio so you are ok there. Don't add organ meats yet as they will exacerbate the loose stools. Don't forget FISH! or Omega 3 oil supplements! Abby loves a can of Salmon or Mackerel with a raw egg and grated cheese. Lotsa O3 in that meal!

That's about what I do. I can't take the smell of fish, so we do the omega3 fish oil capsules dribbled on the PM meal. Right now all 3 get about the same each, even though Jonah is 40+ pounds heavier.......but he's still maintaining his Rubenesque figure, so it must be enough....... The only thing Rumor so far has to stay away from is beef heart....makes him runny and gassey!

Maya has been getting about 2lbs per day and she is 55lbs. Sadie is getting 1.75lbs a day and she is about 35lbs. Maybe I am feeding them too much. Although for Sun and Mon they only got about a pound each cause I only fed them one leg quater each in the am. Maybe I will try to keep up with this feeding through the week and see how things go. (They both could use some weight gain though that is why I was feeding at the higher end of the scale)

I feed Cali 2 lb.s a day and she's between 72-75 lb.s. I hope it's an easy a solution as that, and more affordable too!

I think we've figured it out Give them the unenhanced leg quarters as their big meal and figure training treats into the equation too! Keeping it at 3/4- 1 lb per day. I'd also give 1/4 cup yogurt daily with a teaspoon of ACV (apple cider vinegar). If runny stools persist give some pumpkin mixed with SEB (slippery elm bark). Keep us posted
