Default Does charcoal work??

I am typing this with one hand...the other is holding a cushion clamped to my face....by my feet is a scruffy brown doodle puppy happily slumbering....and from his bum (aimed in my direction) is the most OBNOXIOUS smell .. This is a fairly frequent occurrence...I saw him empty the room of 5 grown men watching 'Star Wars' in 3 seconds flat yesterday and the local shops are running out of air freshener. It's coming in waves now and I might fall off my chair laughing , or I might just be overcome by fumes ....any suggestions??

I am waiting for that answer myself! Tia can put you into a dead faint in less than a second! I suggest a gas mask!

Okay, Charlie is most likely having problems digesting something he is eating. You can try a different food, and or try supplementing with probiotics and digestive enzymes. These will help balance the flora in his gut and help his digestion. In the mean time, try a gas mask.

Ann....what are you feeding Charlie? You might want to give him some probiotics to help with digestion. Or even gasx or beano. I know the room clearing smells....YIKES!! There are certain things Rumor is NOT allowed to eat anymore. Beef heart is one! He will not only do room clearing farts......but room clearing burps!! He actually made my cousin's 21yo daughter cry the other day from the smell........OK, it was from laughing so hard as three adults tried to scramble past 5 doodles to head for clearer air!! Rumor sat and looked at us as if to say..."WHAT?? It didn't smell THAT bad!"

Or attach on of these to his bum!!

What amazes me is that the other dogs don't seem to notice it, even with their noses about 2" from the offending end Good idea about the probotics, especially as I've already got some in the cupboard....presumably human ones are ok for dogs? And dosage isn't too crucial? Having difficulty tracking down the gas mask....not much call for them in an area of little old NZ known for its many retirement homes

Human ones are fine. My vet usually recommends one capsule a day. Hope the air will soon be clearer!

It probably smells good to the dogs!!! My dogs seek out the smellest thing they can to roll in. They think they have just put on perfume!!

Yeah - what Heather said!! The worse it smells, the more they love it!

Some friends once had a Doberman that could clear a room of several adults in five seconds. They finally figured out it was the Kroger Cost Cutter dog food they'd been feeding him. Once they changed his food, he was much less deadly.
