Default What next??

Last night either Miko ate a goose or has kennel cough! Well, quick trip to the vet....kennel cough!! So now she's on meds for two weeks and has cough syrup to take also. Santa was just full of good presents this year!! Miko hates "outings" and especially the vets.......she clung to me like velcro, shaking like a chihuahua!! Poor little girl. She is passed out now.

I'm sorry Gene. When ever you bring a new dog into the mix kennel cough is a risk you're taking.
I had it go through my pack this past summer too. Usually they'll all get it and all get over it without any medication or intervention. They do sound a lot sicker than they act with it. It's unnerving to hear them coughing so oddly, and lasts a week or 2 just like our own colds do.

I will say, it doesn't slow Miko down any! Sometimes I wish she'd loose her voice....she's my barker!

You've got a lot on your plate at the moment, \gene - hope they all get better quickly and allow you a little time for R + R before your Christmas holidays finish!

As Tink says, most dogs who get kennel cough fare well...especially grown dogs. Pups can get terribly sick, so stay away from tiny pups!
If you get a chance, Gene, add some clodial silver (from health food stores) to her water...that is the only thing that helped our little Madison when she had Kennel Cough...she had a very bad case of it.
I still think it is worth checking with a vet, so I am glad you took Miko in...shaking and all...because there are some pretty bad dog flu bugs going around too.

Apple cider vinegar is something else you can give your guys. ACV is also great for dogs that have kennel cough. A teaspoon in your dog's food 2 times a day can be very helpful.

Miko hasn't honked yet....good sign. Holly still coughs and sneezes, but her resistance was so low with all her other problems that it will take her a little longer to get over it. It sure isn't slowing her down. She get's more active everyday.
