Default Has your Doodle been mistaken for another breed?

I get asked over and over if my poochies are PWD's. I can see it in Manchego but NOT Brie. People also think she is a Russian Terrier and another breed that I can't remember.

When Dex was a puppy people always thought he was a Wheaten Terrier. People also ask if Kirby is a terrier when he has a short haircut.

People recognize Lily as a Labradoodle (which is what she is). But I've also get asked if she is a Goldendoodle. Sometimes it's funny when someone will come up to us as ask if Lily is a Labradoodle. When I say yes, they get this look on their face as if they'd won the lottery, exclaiming "hey, I was right!" It's pretty funny. Most say that they thought she was a Labradoodle but had never seen one in person so they weren't quite sure.

The only other breed that she has been mistaken for is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.

The other day I was walking Charlie and a bus stopped next to us....the driver leaned over to ask me if he was part poodle (apparently she breeds poodles...obviously has the 'eye' for them, cos I can't really see any poodly bits in him apart from his long legs). Otherwise I'm occasionally asked if he's a spoodle (cockerpoo) as there are quite a few of those round here.

Someone thought Tia was a tall fat Lab! I said you are partially right! She is part Lab and tall and 5 lbs over weight (maybe). They left quickly!

I am usually asked "what is she?" Then it's "oooh, so thats what they look like" or "I thought so".

Just TODAY, this woman asked me if Bogart is a Portie! I get this a lot!
But what I even get more is a BOUVIER!

If I can ever get my scanner to work, I'll scan a picture of my Bouvier. This picture could pass for Bogart!

Someone at OB class who had a Portugese Water Dog was so excited to see another "Porty" when Stella and I arrived. I felt like I was letting her down when I explained that she is mostly poodle with a bit of lab thrown in. Their coats looked very similar, but Stella has longer poodly legs.

I guess black curly dog = PWD to most people.

Napa gets poodle, alot! He's gotten PWD, and even a Spomoni (sp).... Now, though, the breed is out there enough that people (I think) recognize that he's not cut like a poodle, and he's got a slightly bulker build (though definitely poodle weight- no lab overweight problems here) so people have started to guess Labradoodle. I make them feel like they've won the lottery!

Meet my Irish wolfhound, Gus. It helps that he is almost 30 inches to the shoulder!

And here is my Chesapeake Bay retriver, Hershey!

Charlie is often mistaken for a Portuguese water dog or poodle because of his tight curls. Wayne, a teddy bear.
