Sadie is the first dog I've had that doesn't care to be brushed. My other dogs would push each other out of the way for their turn to be brushed. She is constantly trying to bite at the brush. I found if I wait until evening, when she is a little more tired, it is easier. I also do the treat.

I show her the brush, tell what a lucky girl she is to be brushed (don't think that convinces her ), give her a treat and brush her all the while telling her what a good girl she is. I try to get her to lay down to brush because she is easier to handle that way. I have her lay down, give a treat, brush and talk to her all the time. When she starts squirming around too much again I ask if she wants a treat, say brush and usually can brush some more, tell her good girl and give the treat. I think it's called bribery.

Luckily she has the hair coat so I don't need to brush as much as some others do.

i ve given up on the brush..it s now a medium comb..

i ve read recomendation s to brush doodles once a week..but, i find myself combing out
his hair daily..usually the session last 45mins. just befor dinner..

luckily we ve never experienced any problem s with Toby holding still..

i ll have him stand with his butt towards me and begin combing from the tail forward..first
with short strokes, the fluffing up the hair then combing it down..sides, tail and back..then i move
forward to do the neck, the ears, top of the head and finally his chin and wiskers..

then it s down to floor..he ll lay on his side and i ll do his legs and belly..at about this time he ll go
to sleep..i ll roll him over and do the other side..he gets a pretty thorough combing..if he fidged around
the session would probably be much shorter and less often..if i want him to have a curly coat i ll follow the
combing with a wipe down with a wet towel with some conditioner add d..

here is the pic of Hamish I posted elsewhere of Hamish's new 'do - it is much easier to brush - still working to get him to tolerate it - he's better but definitely still needs short sessions and treats!! - thanks to everyone who keeps responding with their own trials and tribulations - I'm still really jealous of all of you who have pup's who love their grooming sessions.....someday!!![attachment=0:360b1jaq]hamish 12-26 compressed.JPG[/attachment:360b1jaq]
