Default Regurgitating

Anyone any ideas why Charlie regurgitates part of hi evening meal a couple of times a week? He's fed around 7pm and part of it comes back up around 3am, so it's been in his stomach for around 8 hrs but it looks almost the same as when it went in, just slightly damper. Needless to say, he scoffs it up again (waste not want not!), but apart from waking us up every time it doesn't seem like something that should go on longterm.

He gets Nutra Gold, which is a 'holistic' kibble, usually with a bit of cottage cheese/ chicken/ egg/ tuna etc for interest and he eats morning and evening, but he doesn't seem to return it from his breakfast. He doesn't seem bothered by it...should I be, do you think?

Dexter will do exactly what you described occasionally (like maybe once every 2-3 months). I don't know if it's bad if it happens frequently - I would call your vet just to ask what they think.

Yes, I would let the vet know...there could be a slight blockage going on.
If the food is not being digested, there may be something that the vet needs to look at.
Probably nothing...but best to ask, I think.

Have you tried multiple smaller meals?

i'd give the vet a call just to ask ...i remember only bile being brought up some mornings when max was a puppy and a small handful of food
night before helped.

Only time peanut/max brought up dinner was if they drank water right afterwards, gulping it fast and then wrestling immediately afterwards.
but that was a few isolated times.

Well, I have just done extensive research on vomiting vs regurgitating online...my pup had a spell of vomiting and I spent the night researching...so, from what you are saying...if Charlie isn't acutally vomiting (the stomach moving in and out...making that horrible sound) then it is not as serious as vomiting.
My females often regurgitate to feed their puppies...and it is common for dogs to gobble it up again! So, if it continues, do mention it to your vet when you go in, but it should not be an emergency...UNLESS it is vomiting...that is more serious...can be symptomatic of many serious things...so more than 4 or 5 vomiting sessions in a day requires immediate vet care.
My pup, by the way, did have an obstruction...but thankfully his vomiting dislodged it and he was able to pass it ... whew! (Not a pretty thing to see, but then again...so nice to see!)

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. At the moment I'm monitoring it....he doesnt seem to bring up any bile etc, just slightly damp kibble, and we get 2 or 3 'heaving' sounds, followed by slurping as he recycles it ....I wondered if it's something to do with the wild dogs eating then regurgitating it for puppies....not that he's likely to be a mum! I'll trying feeding him more evenly during the day and pop him into the vet if it carries on...he hasn't done it for nearly a week so maybe it was just a passing phase.
