I don't think there is such a thing as a soft toy that lasts more than 15 minutes for dogs who tear them apart. Nicky destroys even the ones labeled "tuff." He picks the weakest spot and chews it apart. He'll also swallow the pieces and the stuffing, so most of the soft toys he has ever owned are now history. He can't be trusted alone with them! I no longer waste my money on them.

Boy can I relate to that! I've given up on the plush toys for now, and hope when Linus gets a little older he won't feel the need to chew so much. He has a stuffed sheep that I've sewn up so many times in so many different spots, he looks a little deformed... (Ovine Frankenstein?)

Yeah I do not do too much of the stuffed toys either............if Denver decides he is going to rip it apart,
he can do it in under a minute and of course with Ryder teething there is no point......... We are going with kongs and rubber toys and will throw in a cheepie stuffy just to watch them have fun....... |

Hey! My dog is a Winnie too! And does she ever rip things apart! However, I HAVE seen a really cool "soft" toy at some of the stores here in Canada (Global Pets). I don't know if you have them in the States, but I've seen these adorable cow and pig dolls that are actually made from luggage material, and several layers of it. I think the outer layer is a little softer than the average suitcase, but they have these super-thick reinforced seams and everything. I haven't tried one yet (they cost $50 here, and I'm not sure I'm up for taking that risk just yet......maybe after she's done teething) but they look really cool. I have no idea how you'd do a search for it online..........maybe under Global Pets??
Edit* I just found some links.......hope that helps! http://www.sierratradingpost.com/site-m ... -Toys/all/ http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/dog-toys ... actyl.html http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=3204866 |

The kong Dr.Noys toys have replaceable squeakers, low stuffing and really seem to last quite a long time for us. And they are relatively inexpensive at about $7-$11. The toys by Go Dog that have chew guard have also held up quite well, although Finn did chew thru the first one in 10 mins. The company replaced it free of charge and that one is still going strong. Their roadkill line is great! They are more expensive at $14-$25. Check the link in my signature. From there go to Finn's links page and you can find links to the go dog website. He is now an official test dog.

Charlie's pretty brutal with his teeth, but instead of buying dog soft toys (sooo expensive!) I pop into my local charity shops evry so often and get a bag of baby soft toys for about $5...I always check them for anything loose, but usually if they're for babies they're pretty safe. I runthem thro the washing machine before he gets them (not sure why, considering some of the loathsome things he eats off the ground

Sadie didn't start de-stuffing hers until about a month ago, she is 6 mos old. She actually just tore apart one of the first toys I bought her, so that wasn't too bad. She hasn't torn apart the AKC toys yet.
I did buy her one that is already de-stuffed. It's a flat dog with a squeaker. Reminds me of a thick wash cloth sewn together. She will toss it around but so far hasn't taken the squeaker out. She has two of the long skinny dogs, one has it's throat slit She has the Hide a Squirrels - the tree trunk seems real durable and she hasn't harmed the squirrels yet, except for pullng the little tufts of hair off their heads. Luckily she doesn't eat the stuffing.

SOME of the JW CUZ toys mine do not rip/shred etc
I do CUT off the FEET and ear tips.....they love to play fetch and squeak the ball I did found once they are about 1.5yrs old or at least Max/Peanut stopped shredding toys for the most part. Once in a great while peanut defuzzes something to get squeaker out and then stops. sooooo maybe with age they eventually stop?

We use the cuz toys too. We totally gave up on soft toys - not worth it to spend any money to have them destroyed in 5 minutes. The cuz toys work really well. We have ones like Annmarie posted and then we got the dinosaur version (from dog.com) too. They make other varieties that we may try. Dex and Kirby just love the dinosaurs!!!
If Kirby ruins one, we'll take the squeaker out and then it becomes an outdoor fetch toy. We haven't had to throw one out yet

Re: the water bottle cruncher...Tanner got the bottle out in less than 1 minute but he did enjoy the empty remains for a couple of weeks then he enjoyed pulling off the tail and shredding the rest.
Tanner's #1 all time favorite are plush balls from Petsmart...$3.99. They have a large squeaker in them and he playsfetch inside with them several times a day usually 2 at a time.

My three dogs are brutal on plush toys, but they just adore the plush squeakers. The AKC animal toys have been by far the most durable. I'm just smitten with their beaver, weasel and hedgehog. I think I'll pick up some ducks for Christmas....

We got this one when Manchego was a puppy and we've had it ever since. He's not a total destructo dog. He just tears the tags off and eventually gets into them and pulls the stuffing out. This one is the only one that has lasted. The other toys last a few weeks UNLESS Brie decides she wants to play tug-of-war!! Then it's off with the head Sarah
