Default Does your doodle smell?

Thought I'd look back thro the forums for this, but a search for 'smell' came up with over 900 matches, so I'll take the short cut! I know doodles are supposed not to have the usual 'doggy' smell but do they have any other odour that's peculiar to the breed? For a while my kids have been saying he smells 'metallic' and I thought they were just imagining it but the last few days I've noticed a slightly strange smell too...the nearest I can describe it is that it reminds me of the 'metallic' smell of blood (but he's not had any injuries etc). Of course he could just need another bath , but I wondered if anyone else has noticed the same smell on their doodle?

Wow, metalic smell??? And feet that smell like cheese doodles???
Okay I just had to check. I have sniffed Olivia over completely and she doesn't smell at all.
On occaison I have noticed a slightly sour smell in her ears which usually means they require cleaning but no other smells.
Cheese doodles eh???
The things I am learning on this forum....

Henry and Zoey smell of dirt...good ol Virginia DIRT....They both love to dig. My back yard is a mess! several holes and they have formed a race track around our kids trampoline.

Otherwise...no funky smells, from there coats anyways!

**edit** Our ears are cleaned often..We always get rave reviews from the vet.

Check the ears!!! Doodles need ear cleansing two or three times a week!

No smell from T, but consider maybe keeping an eye on your dog because maybe something is off physically. People's smells change when their bodies change, why not dogs?

Linus' breath will sometimes have that metallic blood smell you might be referring to - I figure it's just from teething, as his rope chew toy and other rag type things he chews on will show some blood. The rest of the time, his breath is just dog-breath stinky.

Overall I wouldn't say he has no "doggy" smell at all, especially if he hasn't had a bath in awhile and gets wet from rain or snow. But I don't think the odor is as strong as with some other breeds. Sometimes he smells of my hand lotion if I pat on him shortly after applying it. He will usually complain and go roll on the carpet afterward, as if I've just contaminated him with something awful. (Gotta remember, they seem to enjoy the scent of the most nasty of things)

And always the Frito or Cheeto feet, even right after a bath. Never have figured that one out, but it's preferable to stinky human feet!

Annabelle rarely smells "dirty", she has to go quite a while without a bath and have been in the rain a lot to smell "doggy", We use Crazy dog baby powder scent shampoo and that smell lasts about a week or so, then she has no scent except the frito toes, which I try to avoid having in my face

Lily has no smell whatsoever (except for the Frito feet ). Same with my Irish JRT - absolutely no smell (but she has the Frito feet too). My Lab on the other hand - he smells like a dog, no matter how clean he is ...poor boy!
