I have that cold too! Lucky me If you were not feeding RAW you'd have three times the mess! Another good reason to feed meat!
Jac, I'd rethink putting petroleum jelly on puppies. I get worried when Abby licks a cut when we use neosporin Maybe I'm too careful

Poor Rumor! Glad you have a clear runway now
Lucee is a curly girl and thats the first thing I clip! We also do her little whizzer hair (not sure of the american slang for this??)
She developed mats here too and it became red and raw poor little sweet. Bad mamma!! Vet picked it up during her ear visit.
Thorough vet thank goodness. It's a long way from her ears bahahahahahahaha

Hahaha. Poor Rumor. Trimmed Lucy's "pee-tail" once but never had a poop issue with her F1 coat.

Um, well, gee, Gene... This is my first dog and that's something I never would have thought to be watching out for! Linus has a pretty thick, curly rump, so now I find myself glancing at it every now and then, wondering if there's anything hiding in there... and he just gives me that wary "Why do you keep staring at my bum??" look....

When you say sanitary cuts do you mean trimming the hair around the rectum? Do you do it between visits to the groomer? My dog has at times seemed constipated but she has never had poop stuck in her hair yet and she's curly.

He also had this long bit of hair hanging from his male part, Everytime he would urinate it would get soaked and then if he climbed on you, well, you get the idea....So I trimmed it too...not too close though...just enough to help him maintain good hygiene.

yea, its kinda gross but it is better than them climbing on you after they go potty and getting YUCK all over you or your furniture...
Hahahaha.. same here.. to all of that. I have a special pair of scissors that have a rounded tip to make them more safe for clipping ... I trim Hagrid's rumpsky about once a week to keep it clean and lovely..

Poor Rumor! Good that you noticed (despite the horrible cold) before it went on much longer!

You are correct about the location. I do all my own grooming....much to the disdain of my doodles.....

i am sitting here laughing what i call "cling-ons" others call dingleberries, JAC and other's observations.
but the Quote above got me really in stitches!!! ohhhhhhh great sunday night giggles

PS sanitary cuts and poop conversations something we all end up doing here as it's inevitable and come on, seriously if you tried to discuss
these topics with friends and family......think they'd look at you sideways and begin to wonder
or better yet, GENE try telling your neighbors

Gene-- I need to schedule Gracie ASAP!

We did NOT just have fun in the bath! Gross and disgusting are accurate descriptors. I too have a cold, but did catch wind of something this evening. It wasn't pretty!
