I'm glad to hear things have been peaceful. It sounds like you have some major detective work in store for you when you get home!

I hope all is better now. I just wanted to share that our dogs acted odd when we moved into this house. The were not as upset as yours, but we found out our heater was very bad and causing headaches in us. We all were lucky we did not die. So I too wonder if something in your house has a problem. We have a big struggle with mice twice a year and my dogs tend to stay on my bed at night and stare at the door. Good luck

The only thing that Henry really gets scared of is the wind..and his own reflection in a dark window.

When we let him out on a windy night he will sometimes take off like a bolt of lightening, running so fast that his rear legs are out running his front... it is very funny.

He has also started barking at his reflection in our patio doors at night. We have to keep the blinds closed at night to keep him quiet.

Well my job isn't gonna be as easy as I thought. Maya had an episode at daycare. Luckily they knew what to watch up for (even if they didn't believe me totally). The owner said she has never seen anything like it. So I called the vet and made an appointment for Sat morning. I am demanding that they do a blood panel to see if anything can be found. Please think of us on Sat and wish us luck.

Oooh Heather, I feel so bad for all of you!

I hope you get results back imediately from the blood panel. I would go nuts if they made me wait the weekend out.

My guess........ the vitamins. Don't throw the bottle away. I'd be curious to know if there is a recall on them. If it is the vitamins it may take awhile to get out of their system. Wonder if there could be a reaction from getting to much vitamins? Maybe from combining a certain kind of dog food with vitamins. Maybe, like an overdose? Anyways, I'm definately no expert but I am so perplexed over this situation.

I am so thinking about you and the doodles. Hang in there, Saturday will be here before you know it. Please keep us posted!

oh Heather I'm sorry! I hope they find quick answers for you. Given that this happened at daycare too, I would also seriously suspect the vitamins. Did you change anything else in her diet?

Good luck on Sat! We just had the blood panel done on Manchego... It's an odd thing because you don't want anything to be wrong w/ them but you also want to know WHAT is causing the behavior. We got it done on Manchie because he had an elevated heart rate.

Hope all is resolved soon!

My goodness! How did I miss this post???
Wowie...I was thinking along the same lines as others until it happened at Daycare...now, unless they are freaked by a new noise and the same noise happened at daycare...that is possible. Any trees or shrubs rubbing on the house or windows in a slight breeze?
Okay, I remember reading that some toxins (plants) cause strange behavior. If it is wet in your area are there any wild mushrooms? Are your dogs eating plants of any kind? Has the grass be sprayed for bugs or weeds?
I would agree that it is likely fear, given what they do, but it is just so odd that two dogs do exactly the same thing. I have a bunch of dogs and they never react identically to anyting...so odd.
I just found this site...great info...some toxins do give hallucination and seizures...look at the lead poisoning, see if it might ring true: http://www.doctordog.com/dogbook/dogpoison.html
I really hope that you find what is happening...if it is poisoning, maybe someone has put out poison meat? Maybe only the two dogs have ingested it, for instance if it is lead poisoning, maybe your foster girl has not gotten into it...any medications that they could have found? Sugar free gum or candy?

at the dog park a few weeks back we had discussion about a couple similar instances..cept the dog s became
aggressive in a instances..

one neighbor s house was burgerlized..and the sent left behind by the theive s drove dog nuts everytime
they entered the house..it took a week for the scent to finally leave after repeated cleaning of the house..

another instance for no reason start clawing at the wall s..the owner thought there were roach s in the wall..
an exterminator came out and found a bat in the attic..

and just now..Toby and Lucky are barking their heads off..there s a flock of migrating duck s flying overhead..
i don t hear a thing yet the two of them are quite aware of what s going on overhead..
