My in-laws just opened their pool. It's still green and going through the cleaning process. Well we went over on Sunday and our 6month old Dunkin took a running start and dove in off the side. I think he freaked himself out, as well as us, because he went fully under and while he has swam before he has never fully submerged his head. He swam to the side and I pulled him out. He doesn't know where the stairs are yet. We hosed him off right away. So here's our anticipated problem...each time we go there and we visit there weekly.. Dunkin will be pool bound. I'm worried about skin irrations, pool safety for him, and ear problems. Any thoughts, suggestions would be helpful. How much pool time is too much for a dog?

I dont know about how long they can be in there for but make sure after every swim you clean out his ears. You can use a mixture of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Fill the canal, rub it around, let him shake and clean the rest out with a cotton ball.
