Bathing and use of Flea skin treatments

as the weather is waming up im finding that Toby is finding more and more time in the mud puddles at the dog park..

id like to get some advise on how often can i shampoo him and how does it affect the flea treament i put on him each month..

We give a real bath (in the tub with shampoo) once a month. They say to wait 2-3 days after applying flea meds before giving a bath. In the summer we will hose them off outside when they get muddy.
