Late last fall Matey had some greenish goop in his eyes. I took him to the vet and she checked for scratches etc and found nothing. She did give me a tube of antiobiotic cream to put in twice a day for a week. It cleared up with out another problem. 3 months later he seemed to be getting goopy eye again. I put the cream in and it went away. I talked to the vet about it and mentioned that he had been groomed at about the same time of the goop and we thought that perhaps it was the shampoo or dirty water? She also mentioned that some doodles have eyelashes on the inside of the eyelid that will irritate the eye. Well, yesterday he had another case of goopy eye! This time he had not been to the groomer. I started the cream again and am sure that it will clear up. Has anyone else had this experience?

Tanner had the same experience this past winter. He was treated 3 or 4 times for eye infections each time doing the 3 times a day for 10 days routine with 2 different meds. My vet said the next step was to go to an eye specialist.
The manager of his daycare told me that 2 of her dogs experience the same thing in the winter due to the heated dry air in houses. Her vet suggested putting antibiotic cream in eye every night. My vet took it a step further and suggested one drop of antibiotic liquid (cream and ointment too messy) in each eye before bedtime. Tanner has had no more problems with the infection reoccuring. I stopped the drops about 6 weeks ago and he is still clear. I am at work right now and don't have the name of the drops with me but I can PM you if you would like.
