I have the fleece lined harness for our doodles which you put the seat belt thru it and then buckle it.
haha...we did the same when it was just Dexter...but Kirby is a little maniac in the car...he is so excited he won't sit still and he would get himself all tangled in the seat belt. Dex likes to sleep in the car so to the back of the SUV went Kirby...and we needed the attachments to keep him from getting all tangled up.

Default seat belts

When its just me and Brinkley in the car, he rides in the passenger seat with his walking harness on. If he was not buckled in - I would be afraid if I had to brake hard and fast, that he would slip off the front seat and bang his head! The walking harness comes with a seat belt attachment. Its made by ezydog and Brinkley seems to find it comfortable in the car and when we walk. Here is the web link - www.ezydog.com so you can judge for yourself if this would be right for your dog.

I just have a regular harness (the kind that is sold with collars) and a seat belt that clicks into the car's seatbelt buckle. I think the seatbelt was $25 a few years ago at Petsmart, but the harness was cheaper than the kind they sold with the seatbelts, but made out of the same thing. Cinnamon chewed through the first seatbelt (of course, the most expensive item) when I didn't unbuckle her when I left her in the car on a road trip (potty run). I found if I unbuckled her before I left her, nothing was chewed but she got into the driver's seat by the time I was back.

At first she got tangled in it a few times, but she soon learned to untangle herself.

Thank you all for your replies! I just want to make sure my family and Winn Dixie are all safe! I always thought it was so cute to see dogs in their drivers' laps, but never realized how dangerous it could be until I tried it!
