I did the test after work. Kirby (as I thought) left the junk mail alone when I told him to "leave it". Dex (as I thought) grabbed it and started shredding.
Now the interesting part came when I brought Kirby to the kitchen and called Dex to "drop it" and "come"...he didn't do so at first, but when he realized Kirby was getting treats he listened. We did several times walking past it "leaving it" and "dropping it" when needed and I had a very attentive labradoodle (for once). I think I will make this a regular training exercise

Which does your doodle like more tissue, paper towel, toilet paper, or just regular paper?
Cacao's favorite would have to be the boys school papers. So regular paper. She will take it off the refrigerator, just started that today.

This obsession has waned a bit recently, but Pixie goes for kleenex. I have allergies, so I often carry one or two in my pocket, and she will stick her nose in there and fish it out in a flash. I never discouraged it - the pocket thing makes me laugh, and I figure it's cheap, clean and safe for her, so why not? Paper towels to a lesser extent. My son's friend brought in a stick the other day - we live in Manhattan so we don't come across them too often - and she chewed that stick to bits. I guess you could say she also likes paper in its RAW form
