that about sums it up...how often do you either take them to the groomers or bath them yourself? I know that if you bath them too often they will get dry skin, but Murphy gets pretty dirty outside and I want to give him a bath, but he had a bath a couple weeks ago.

Tanner is bathed at his daycare by groomer every other Wednesday. She does this so she can brush and blow him dry and it keeps him from matting. She gives him a complete groom every 6-8 weeks. It costs me the same as if I only took him to her every 2 months. She thinks it is easier on him and her.

Thanks! I was worried that every 6 weeks or so was too much, but if you guys aren't having trouble then that works for me
We have 2 1/2 acres and there is quite a bit of dirt to roll around in |

We bath Bailey approx once per month also. We also put a few drops of pure tea tree oil in his bath for itchiness (be careful with this as it can be an eye irritant to them). I also use a gentle lavender scented shampoo which makes him smell amazing.
I do bath him more if he gets dirty or slobbered on at the off leash park. By the way, my dog just loves having a shower. I've never had a dog that loved getting his face rained on!! Anyone else?

Maya gets a bath in the bath tub but I have a hand held shower head and I use that to spray her down. I can spray it right in her face and she doesn't care. She gets a bath once a month and if she is stinky or slobbery I use Best Shot coat reviatalizer to take the smell out.

I guess I try to bathe them once a month. I have done it at the two week point....due to mud, or excessive dirty and mouthy play!!
I have used several brands of shampoo and conditioner on them, the puppy kind....and have gone back to Best Shot. I like it the best. Does help with getting matts and tangles out....smells fresh and minty sort of...I know of some that take theirs to the groomer's every week. They use something that isn't drying and very conditioning. I have always heard once a month is as often as it should be done. So far, the times I have bathed Coco more ofen than that, I haven't noticed any skin irritation at all.

Kozmo goes to the groomer now every 5 weeks, we bathe Kelsey & Monet every 4 weeks. We use the dremel on their toe nails , and it works like a charm. no bleeding yet so far.
We feed them peices of chicken when using the dremmel, so they are getting a bit used to it more. defiately takes 2 of us to do. "FLUFFY PUPPY" BY BIOGROOM smells awfully nice on them, & the aroma lasts for about a week. the shampoo rinses out nice , no rsidue, no irritated skin.. |
