We have a 2 1/2 year old Labordoodle who is the best dog except for one little problem. He was potty trained as a puppy and has been excellent until the last couple of months. He knows he is doing wrong as he tried to hide it by pooping behind something or hiding it or peeing in an out of the way spot.
When I find it, he will notice and head for the door with his tail down as he knows he did wrong. One night he backed up and pooped on top of the support on my son's punching bag trying not to get it on the carpet. Were it not a disgusting habit, it would be cute to view the ways he tries to avoid us finding it or his attempt to keep it off the floor. Other than this, he is a loving happy dog, and I have trouble understanding why after 2 1/2 years, this started. Any ideas? |

Has something changed in the dog's life? New home, new schedule, not getting out as much, new person taking care of him/her? If not, I guess you might have to visit the vet to make sure he/she is feeling ok?

I will consider getting him to the vet and see if they can locate although a trip to the vet is a trip. When I had him neutered, and then when we went back to get the stitches out, had to drag him in, and everyone customers, doctors, and staff were in stitches, like he had a good idea he had lost something there, and we still have the battle every time 2 year later.
But this habit has got me to the point that I am caging him at night which I never did since he was a puppy. Right after we picked him up from the breeder, a week later he got sick and had parvo which I nursed him trougtht and we got real close since I was giving him IV's and Shots every few hours and if we hug in the house, he joins right in. So it is perplexing |
