Default Eye Gunk

Does your doodle get eye gunk? My dog is dark brown and there are always dark brown eye buggers in the corner of her eyes. It is gross. I asked the vet about it and he said to just pull them off. It is such a pain to try to hold her down and pull stuff from the corners of her eyes.

Is there anything to do to not get them?

I wipe them away everyday from each eye while I pet him...you can be sly about it and use either your thumb or pointer finger and scrape it away while you love on him. Jasper gets 'eye boogers' often and so did all of my poodles. No big deal - just kinda gross. The trick is to not to let it build up. If you do - a damp warm wash cloth will loosen it up and you can wipe them away that way.

As far as I know there is nothing you can do to prevent it....

Yes, Daisy constantly has eye boogers, yuck!! Not sure there's anything you can do other than wipe them away as often as possible. If we don't, they get caught in her hair and I'm sure it hurts a bit to yank them off

Ugh... I was hoping there was some trick I didn't know about.

Yup we get them, but honestly all the dogs and cats I've had tended to get them as well. Just wipe/pull them off.

Yeah - our vet told us just to wipe them off. The more you do it, the more your dog will let you. You can always use a baby wipe as well.

Dara is right! The more often you do it, every day...sometimes twice a day, the more your pup will allow you to get close to her and do what you want and need to do. A warm washcloth helps as well! My Shihtzu has the same problem, only much worse than our doodle..! We have to put her on top of the dry sink twice a day and she is now 10 years old so she is an angel for me...we have to use a warm washcloth and than even end with eye drops bc her eyelashes get in her eyes...she is the most high maintenance dog I've ever owned! But our doodle is cake! We clean Hayley's eyes twice a day but it's just seconds and she is so good with letting us pick and pry..just make sure your hands are clean of course! It will get better!
