seem s like they have a dog food for every growth stage..
we changed Toby to an adult food after 8 mos..at the time he had a pretty healthy appitite and did nt see the need for a high calorie puppy food.. its important that they get all the nutrition they need..yet not gain weight too quickly.. Last edited by deepnite10; 01-22-2012 at 08:24 PM. |

Agreed, deepnite.
We changed Bogart at about a year. I think the best way to evaluate this is when you have your check ups with your vet.

I would ask your vet, I think it varies by dog and scenario. We switched Daisy well before she turned one but I can't recall exactly how old she was. She was having digestive issues and we needed to get her off the rich puppy food sooner rather than later. You can do a search on this forum, I believe someone else asked this same question not too long ago.
