Question Shedding

I am in love with my 2 labradoodles, but the original reason I got them was that they weren't supposed to shed.

My black silky, especially, sheds his fine hair everywhere. The curly does some, but not too much.

Is their something lacking in their diet or is this to be expected?

HELLO AND WELCOME KALETA!

Are your doodles F1's? That's 1/2 and 1/2. My Bogart is, so he sheds some as well, but nowhere near as much as any dog I've ever had!

Plus, are your doodles pups? They could be blowing their puppy coat.
Or, depending on where you live, adjusting to the climate.

My babies are 3 1/2 and 4 years and they are F1's. The silky sheds more that any dog I have ever had including a Great Pyreneses. And the hair is so fine it floats everywhere. I told him I was going to ask some experts, and he said that would be great because he doesn't like to shed so much. By the way, their names are This (black male) and That (curly female).

AHHHH F1's Oh yes the majority of F1's do shed. Thats why we originally had gotten a labradoodle too , back in 2003..Kelsey is an F1 but we wouldn't trade that perfect happy kid friendly personality for anything.

She has been such a fun dog that loves to swim, loves to retrieve balls and drop them back at your feet., wags her tail to any stranger, especially low to the ground (children) people, loves fireworks, never car sick, loves to go to the vet ,never nervous, or shy...so in 2006, we bred her to a standard poodle to begin our breeding career and those pups ( F1b) Do Not shed at all..

When shedding is the main reason you want to get a labradoodle, go for the higher generations , and discuss this with the breeder thoroughly...for all those considering a labradoodle pup for their future.

my Bona is a F1 labradoodle, but she doesnīt shed at all. I didnīt know that F1 doodles shed more than the higher generations. I guess I was just lucky...

It's a toss up with an F1. Some shed more than others or, like Mascha's dood, not at all.

Bogart produces "tumbleweeds"........balls of hair along the baseboards on the hardwood floors. They are rather easy to clean up with a vacuum or broom....and I rarely see it on clothing.
Anything is an improvement over my last dogs who shed like crazy or had that musty, doggie smell when wet. Bogart doesn't emit a doggie odor when wet.
Botton line......I like the look of an F1 and I don't mind the minimal shedding.

Juneau's an F1, but he sheds uncontrollably. While getting ready for work in the morning it usually only takes me about 2 minutes to be covered in fur. The sticky roller has become my new best friend.

His fur collects in the corners of our hardwood and is easy to clean up, but on the throw rugs, that's a different story! I swear his fur inbeds itself into the rug somehow, weaving inbetween each strand

We've invested in a furminator and have noticed a difference in the amount of fur we find on a day to day basis, but you'd still think we had a husky rather than a labradoodle.
