Default Question about coat

hi all!
I'm a newbie so please bare with me! We have a BEAUTIFUL 8mth old labradoodle called Oakley. He is such a sweetie.

Anyways, over Christmas and New Year we were away on a vacation and we left him with my mother-in-law.
We came back and his coat was all matted and so close to the skin They live by a big lake so I guessing the walks round the lake caused it.

Well, we just got him groomed as I was just too scared to try and attempt to do it myself. The groomer has had to cut him so SHORT, all over. I am so sad my little scruff ball isnt scruffy anymore.
I know it was for the best, etc but still lol

Anyways, my question is how long on average does it take for it to grow back. Is the labradoodle breed a fast or slow breed for their hair growing skills!

Big thanks in advance for your time in reading and (hopefully) replying!

Beings he is 8 months old, the matting next to the skin could just be a matter of the adult coat coming in......and the easiest way to deal with it is to just shave them down.
The adult coat comes in and tangles with the puppy coat and causes horrible matting....
Keep him brushed well and hopefully that stage will be over quickly.
The coat can change up to 2 yrs old....

Aww thank you! I did wonder if it could be his adult coat.

I have always been surrounding by dogs growing up, but this is the first Labradoodle so it's a learning curve for me!

My Labradoodle's hair grows fast, it won't be long and you'll see that scruffy look coming back again This is assuming our doodles have the same "hair growing skills" lol!

Jasper's hair grows really fast, too! We get him groomed about every 6 weeks...he loves going, though...

We like to keep it at about 2" all over. It's short enough to keep tangle free but still long enough to run your fingers through!! Hehe... He has the softest hair I have ever felt on a dog!!

Sorry for the late reply, but thank you for taking the time to answr... he's still on the short side! I am wishing it to grow fast as my husband has been out of town on business and will be sad to see his 'scruff-ball' gone!
