Please tell me I will survive this new Labradoodle puppy that we are bring home on Jan 9th. We have a 3.5 year old chocolate lab who is actually a pretty good girl and I also have a 2.5 year old human child who is pretty good considering he is 2.5 and a 12 year old human child. We are not new to puppy ownership. This will actually be our 3rd puppy/dog we have owned in my adult life and I know they are a lot of work but I just want some reassurance that I didn't make a mistake in taking this on. I am just soooo nervous about this right now. I am hoping that it won't be as bad as I am thinking. Right???

It will be ok!!! I truly believe this considering you are not new to puppy ownership and dogs in general. When we got Daisy a few years ago I was so excited and pushed hard on my hubby to let our family get her. We agreed but then the few days before we picked her up I was a nervous wreck, I barely slept and was so terrified of what we had gotten ourselves into. We've always had dogs but never a puppy, and we have 2 young children. It all turned out great and the puppy stuff as you know is short lived in the grand scheme of things. You can do it and it will be amazing!!! Good luck, keep us posted

If you have had puppies in the past, you will likely be okay as you have a good idea what to expect. I think the fact that you are nervous shows just how much you know what to expect!

We got our puppy at 8 weeks, for the first two weeks I thought I had made a terrible mistake. Every day I was like... I may have to give this dog up tomorrow. But I made it through each day. Now at 4 months I can't imagine life before we got her.
Having a puppy pen and crate would probably help with small children. |

I suppose I would be more hesitant to say, you'll be fine, if you didn't have some concerns!
Like in anything in life, preparing for something softens the blow if it hits hard, right? Now, there are people who just buy dogs/pups without thinking. Those are the ons to worry about, IMO.

forgive me..but, you don t sound so happy about a new new pup?..
and i don t blame you..you ve had dogs in the past..and the new pup is going to be just as much work..perhaps more now that you ve got a pretty full plate already in place.. but, consider this..ask, why do i want another dog? if you ve got the right reason..then i think you d have a more optimistic attitude.. |

Worries are gone. We are so in love with him and he has been great with potty training and crate training, actually a piece of cake so far, fingers crossed. My 3 year old lab has been really excellent with him and the 2 year old has been ok also. So glad he has joined our crazy family.
