Exclamation Help!

Nash has been having A LOT of accidents in the past week or two. He's nine months old and while he was never perfect (he'd have maybe an accident a month, if that even, which were usually my fault for not noticing his signs to go out), but nothing like this. He's had at least one accident a day for a week or two, (he usually poops in the house) and I'm at the end of my rope. I'm back to taking him out every half hour like when he was 12 weeks and I think that it is just ridiculous now that he's nine months. The last one that he had (about 30 minutes ago he pooped in the basement) happened no more than 15 minuted after I had had him outside. We don't have a fence, so every time he needs to go out I take him out on the leash, but now that the accidents have started I take him out whether he goes to the door to be let out or not, and walk him around until he goes or for at least 10 minutes if he doesn't. Sorry that this is so long and to keep asking questions, but I can't take these accidents much longer.

perhaps he has pick d up a tummy bug..or something in the home life has changed dramaticly..

if you think he might have a bug..then a trip to the vet with a stool sample is in order..

You could try a
doggy bell doggy bell
at the door that way he would be able to let you know when he needs to go out. We've had great success with it. Make sure you use a good enzyme cleaner when he does go in the house. They will tend to revisit the same spots.

I would just keep taking him out as often as you can even if he isn't telling you he has to go out. That way, eventually he will HAVE to do it outside and eventually this should reinforce it. I would be tempted to ask the vet about it too. He could have giardia or some other stomach bug. Our dog has had a few bladder infections and our first sign of it was when she started having accidents in the house for no apparent reason. Once the antibiotics kicked in the accidents stopped.

I had considered a medical issue, but he has had fairly firm stools, especially considering that I'm in the process of switching his food (we've had quit the food saga), and I had thought that if it was a stomach bug he would have runny stool, so I assumed that it was something else. Could it be because of the switch? I have stopped the transition until I am sure that this is over. Rather than chance it maybe I'll give the vet a call. He hasn't had an accident since my last post, so I'm hoping that this is over. I also don't think that it has to do with his smelling where he had gone, because we use a carpet cleaner and then an enzyme cleaner on all the spots and the accidents are never in the same place.

Don't give up! Something is making this happen and we have to figure it out.
If it were me, I would definitely get the advice of my vet. I'm not sure the stool has to be soft to indicate a problem.......Take a fecal sample in when you go.
Sorry.......we love our doods and get so concerned.
Bogart was sick last week with vomiting and a temperature. He was on antibiotics for 7 days.

Oh no! Is Bogart feeling better? I called the vet and he said that since he hasn't had an accident in three days, is eating the same, has a normal temperature, and is at his normal activity level (which is always at "turbo" ha ha) then for now just keep on eye on him, but if ANYTHING changes to bring him in. He thinks that it was the food switch, since he was going from a grain-inclusive food to grain-free. He said that I should go even slower than normal because of the jump in protein levels.
