Default Suggestions for a single protein source kibble?

Something tells me all of Ace's recent symptoms - recurring ear infections, eye gunk, vomiting, rubbing face after eating, fur looking dry - which all seem to be coming to a head at the same time - may have something to do with his food.

I'd like to find out if its a particular protein source and I guess the way to do that is by trying a single source protein to start. His current food has both chicken and turkey so I'd like to avoid those two ingredients.

Ran out and bought Wellness Simple duck and rice, but now reading some not so great reviews online.

Anyone serving up a high quality single source protein kibble that your dog is doing well on?

Thanks!

i ve been using Origen and Evo..both are very high quality
dog foods..

start off with the smallest bags..and there are times a dog may be
allergic to a specific protein..

i d recommend starting with a fish..if he takes well to that then you can move to lamb, then chicken and finally beef..

Chicken is a popular allergy among dogs. Most hypoallergenic foods contain lamb or duck as a protein source. Currently ours is on Royal Canin Medi Cal - Hypoallergenic. It's been the best food for her so far. We went through six foods before we found this one. We have to buy it from the vet though which is kind of annoying.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. You know I've treated the eyes and ears with drops and cleanings, etc, off and on for a while now but it keeps coming back, he's rubbed his face following a meal for some time but its become more so lately, and add to that some licking of lips, a little vomiting, diharrea, I'm just starting to think its the food. It's like it all came to a head at once and the lightbulb went off. I must admit that over the holiday Ace did get some fresh turkey added to his dish...I"m guilty!

I am definitely willing to try what I need to to make sure my guy can eat well and feel good. I guess it will just be a process as I'll phase him off and on to new things...I'll watch to see if the symptoms clear as we go along....

Okay, starting him on evo herring and salmon, treating eyes with drops and ears with zymox to give him some immediate relief...I plan to watch closely over the next month to see if symptoms are eliminated. He threw up this morning. I think all of this is related....
