When is a good time to switch over to Adult food .. Our vet told us anywhere between 9 and 12 months was ok. Diego is about 60 pounds at a 16 months, so yours seems a bit larger. We switched to Natural Balance (an all life stages food) around 10 months because he was having a lot of intestinal issues with his puppy food.
I think you could go either way -- just make sure you make he switch very slowly, over the course of about 2 weeks. So you might want to replenish that puppy food anyway... |

We switched at 6 months, but mostly because Daisy was having so many tummy issues that our vet thought it was time to move away from the rich puppy food. But regardless, I don't think you need to wait the full year, I would make the switch now.
And yes, slow and steady is the key when making the switch, if you don't have much puppy food left you might need to buy a small bag of it to mix them for a few weeks. Last edited by Daisy'sMom; 11-22-2011 at 09:08 AM. |

we changed over to adult food at 6 mos. as well..
it was recommended by the vet..he did nt want Toby to be putting on weight too fast..be sure when you do change over though..to have some of the older kibble to mix with the new so theres no tummy issues.. |

I was pondering this as well. Mal is just about 7 months old and he seems so uninterested in his puppy food, but he gobbles up my mom and dad's dog's adult food...which is weight control food. Go figure. Both of them eat Blue Buffalo Wilderness.
