I have a quesiton about Max! Lately he is becoming super hyper! I understand he is a puppy and that is normal but the problem is he is attacking my legs, my daughter, and biting us a lot. Should I be worried? As soon as he gets his last rounds of vaccines I am going to take him obedience classes.

How old is your daughter? Is she a toddler? How old is your pup now? Our puppy was extremely bitey for the first few months. It was insane...she was tearing our clothes all the time and snagging her sharp little puppy teeth on anything and everything - including our skin! One time, we had guests over and she actually bit (teething-playful bite) our guest's hand and drew blood. I was mortified. The guest was fine, but still it freaked me out a bit. Anyway, our Katey is now 9.5 months old and no longer does this. The best thing that worked for us was taking her to doggy daycare a couple times a week, where she would play with other puppies who also had sharp teeth! She learned bite inhibition exponentially fast! Much faster than when we humans tried to teach her!
Hope this helps. Katey's mom |

Bella is 3 1/2 year olds so yes a toddler. Max is 11 weeks old. I am sure this is all normal and it seems at some point 6 to 9 months it will stop. I am sure he has a lot to do with teething. I just need reassurance at times! I had some family over for halloween and my 2 year old niece was there. Max playfully jumped on her and bit her and the dad was not happy at all. I corrected him but i did not remove him from room. I feel like he has to learn how to behave with people around. I looked into doggie play centers and I found out where I will be taking MAx they do doggie play dates so I think is a perfect idea! I want to give him all the guidance he needs. I know when I look back it will be worth the bite marks, scratches and holes in my favorite comfy pants! I just love him! I couldn't believe it but last night he was in a dead sleep woke up and stared at my front door with a low growl and bark. He did this for a few minutes and stayed right by my side then he gave me that doodle look and a kiss. Not sure what he sensed, could of been a stray cat but just knowing he has that guard dog in him makes me feel safe. I just love him to pieces!

I totally know what you mean about having guests over and the puppy goes crazy! We were mortified when Katey jumped up and puppy-bit our guest too! Looking back, what we should have done was just keep a leash on her at all times in the house so we could easily correct her and stop her from jumping on other people and us! It's so silly...I don't know why we never thought of it. It would have made things soooo much easier. I think you will notice a big difference in your pup after having some good play dates with other sharp-teethed puppies. The bite inhibition will help. Things do get better....A LOT better! We noticed the biggest change (improvement) after age 6 months. She is still a handful but much easier now that we have figured her out more. Just needs lots of exercise to drain her energy. Sounds like you are doing well. Keep it up. Time flies.
