Default Stumpy tail?

Our brand new baby has what looks like a stump for a tail. It is actually an upside L shape when you feel it. We actually picked him partly because of it. He was just so sweet. Anyone else have a labradoodle with a similar tail? Just hoping it never gives him any trouble of any kind down the road and that it is not an indication of any sort of problem.

Congrats on your new puppy! He's quite cute. I've never experienced anything like your little guys' stumpy tail, but maybe someone else has and will be able to share their experience. The closest we come is this is Juneau's tail (when he's relaxed) is also in the shap of an upside down L, but when he's excited and playful it's in full curl!

Thanks so much for the reply. What a cute Juneau has!!! Harley has a vet visit tomorrow. Interesting to see what she thinks of his tail.

Was it docked? Or is it naturally that short?

He sure is a cutie!!!

Thanks for your reply. I am 100% positive it wasn't docked. He's just naturally different.

Be sure to post what the vet thinks too, I'm quite interested in hearing their theory!

Hey there, vet said he is perfectly fine. Just a short, kinked tail. It shouldn't cause him any problems. Vet said they also never had a puppy fall asleep on the scale quite like he did. He just got on it and was gone! He was easy to weigh though. 11 pounds at 9 weeks.
