Let me first say that I LOVE my doodle! Lucy is so smart and amazing. I know this is a huge part in why I was even interested in getting a poodle. Lucy is very poodle-like in her actions, I just knew a poodle would be an added bonus to our family.
I also joined the standard poodle site. UGH. I know poodles are super smart, etc... BUT, I am feeling appalled that they think a doodle is less than a breed. I went there for grooming advice, etc. and came across neg doodle posts. WHY?! Some think doodles are mutts and it is wrong. It infuriates me because Lucy is the reason I was ever interested in Poodles in the 1st place! Anyone else have bad experiences with having a doodle?! I would have never thought anyone would say anything negative about them!! |

I've seen several posts here of people commenting on poodles owners being a bit uppity in regards to doodles. I haven't experienced it, but honestly it's their loss I say. Labradors are incredible dogs and poodles are as well. A combination of them can be nothing less than incredible.
So pffffffftttttt at those snooty poodles owners. |

That kind of attitude only says something about the dog owners - not the sweet dogs! I too can see wanting a poodle sometime in my life - and it would be as a direct result of my doodle. Congratulations on your new family member!

I would suggest you drop out of the poodle forum. You don't own a poodle, or even a breed of dog for that matter. LIke it or not, your dog is a mutt. But you're in good company here with other labradoodle owners, where you can complain to your heart's content how snobby poodle people are.

I joined a very active dog forum before I found this one. I said I was choosing a puppy from a litter of 6 and asked for advice on which one to pick - M/F, friendly or docile puppy etc. The first question I was asked was what kind of dog. I said a goldendoodle and people wrote the most horrible things (to date 4 pages worth). They said doodles are all sick, breeders are all BYB, doodles have mangy matted fur, there was probably a whole page of why would you pay for a mutt. My personal favorite is that I am probably a yuppy and don't deserve a dog.
People on internet forums can be crazy and mean, my advise is to not get sucked in or engage in unproductive debates with nutters. Forgot to say congrats on your new dog! |

Hey muttsrus- not sure of your agenda but if you actually read LucyWhitePaw's post, including the title, she DOES have a standard poodle. Also, I have several friends who have standard poodles and they are NOT snobby at all!! And they love my doodle, or lab/poodle mix, or mutt, or whatever! Oh, and if you don't own a mutt, maybe you shouldn't be on our forum.

Whether Juneau is an 'SPCA special', a labradoodle, a dog, a puppy, a four legged companion or even a mutt, he's mine and I love him and will do everything I can to make sure he has a great life.
Congratulation LucyWhitePaw on your new addition. No matter what kind of dog you have I'm sure you'll find lots of help here - without the added insults And Moe, pictures please!! And also, enjoy the full nights sleep and the relaxing time because as soon as that little pup joins the family s/he will be keeping you on your toes!!
