Default Labradoodle?

Hi all,

We've recently adopted a dog and we were told she was a labradoodle. She is adorable, scruffy, black / grey, and about 40lbs. However, whenever we tell someone that she's a labradoodle, they say "no, she is not," which is usually followed by an explanation for what type of dog they think she is. This has ranged from "some type of terrier mix," soft coated wheaten terrier, german wirehaired pointer, "don't know what she is, but a labradoodle she is not," to even a wolfhound. I don't know why I get bothered, but because I just don't know for sure, I feel like I can't say anything back to these people. So, what do you all think. Does she look like a labradoodle? Thanks .

Hmmm. Could be. Doodles come in such a wide range of colors / coat types. Many do have that scruffy look. Maybe even some schnauzer in her?? Is she full grown? What a cutie, congrats! (If you could post some more pics. it might help.)

If I passed you and your dog on a walk I would assume she was a labradoodle. She has the same scruffy look as my doodle.

People always think Ziggy is a Wolf Hound but he's full doodle. Aside from color, our dogs look pretty similar. When we picked up Ziggy from the breeder, he was the straight haired dog from the litter, all his siblings were curly haired. It's amazing the variety of coats doodles can have!

If I saw you on the street, I'd think she's a Doodle.

Thanks . Glad to hear that there other doodles out there that look similar. Yes, she is full grown. I will try to post some more pictures, but she hates the camera (w/out flash) so I don't have many yet. I took this one with my laptop because she doesn't seem afraid of it.

she s a labradoodle..too many people assuming the poodle influence will be looking for a curly coat..and that s just not the case..

Default Labradoodle F1 Generation is my guess

Yes do not be concerned what others say to you. This is clearly a labradoodle. ide bet one of her parents was a poodle and another was a lab...making her an F1...some turn out curly , some turn out with flat coats..this is why breeders move on from the F1 and will strive for a more curlier, softer, non shedding coat..you will seldom see this when breeding F3 Labradoodles and higher, or breeding Australian Labradoodles.
Im sure she is as sweet as any labradoodle could be...Its in the temperment also..

Looks like a Doodle to me! I have to tell you that people do believe my Daisy is a Labradoodle but the common response I get is "oh really? She looks like a wheaton terrier or some sort of terrier", but they don't ever challenge me or anything saying "no, she's not a doodle...". So just wanted to share that people often think Daisy has other breeds in her which she does not.

Oh, and she is ADORABLE!!!!!

Thank you - you all made me smile. She was given up with a black lab, so my guess too is that she is a black lab and smaller white poodle mix (she has a cute little white spot on her chest ). She has a great temperament and is super super sweet. Though she has major separation issues, which I guess is common for shelter dogs, so we are working on that.

Pupster, our Bailey has some seperation issues too. I think most doodles do. I honestly think thats due to there wanting to ALWAYS be with the family. I know Bailey will go nuts if I leave the bathroom door open when I take a shower. She will keep peaking her head around the curtain to make sure im still in there (she hates water, so she wont come in). But if I leave the door closed, she will lay down right outside the door, and wait for me to open the door back up. That is even if my wife is home. They just get attached to people very very easy. We are also working on it with Bailey. She is just 4 months old, so its a little bit harder with her. She barks alot when left alone outside by herself. Keep at it, you will get it

Rodney - that's funny that she will peek into the shower! Ours absolutely hates water too (which makes going potty difficult when it's raining ). And she will follow me to the bathroom too and wait right outside the door. She will whine, bark, and howl when left alone more than 2 minutes .
