I just feel like we don't pay near as much attention to him as he needs; I don't feel it's fair to him to leave him alone all the time.

Is this just how you've been feeling lately or since you've got him? Everyones life is a rollercoaster and at times we can't help it, but if Loopy is able to make it through this, perhaps your life will settle back down?
I don't want to seem like I am trying to convince you or anything, it's just that once their gone - that's it, there's no going back. Maybe mention where about you're located (N, S, E, W, The States, Canada) it may give people a little help in seeing if they know of anyone looking. |

Sorry that things are not going well. I recall that in your last post/s you were very frustrated about potty training. Are you still having problems? Just wondering if you'd feel like selling him if he were trained. I, too, have a young doodle- born 4/18. I definitely get frustrated and feel like I'm not giving her enough attention- work full time and one of my kids has special needs- but she still comes running with her tail wagging!! Of course, only YOU know what's right for your family. Good luck with your decision- I'm sure you'll do what's right for you AND Loopy.

I am very sorry to hear that you are so frustrated with your puppy. But please be careful about trying to sell him, especially if he isn't trained yet. Your contract with the breeder should have some kind of clause about returning the puppy, and if not, please contact the Doodle Rescue Collective. You can PM me for more information.

Sorry it's not working out. It's not often that this happens, so if you feel this way, it may be best for, first, the doodle and then for you.
Our breeder has a clause that we give THEM notice first before we do anything. It makes sense to me.

I will look into the contract... He is such a sweet puppy. The potty training is much better. My biggest problem is that we have a cat and the cat wants nothing to do with Loopy. Loopy needs to be restricted to our Florida room because if he comes in the cat will pee inside our closets

Cats & dogs.......sometimes they just can't work it out.
It must be difficult when you have to choose between the two. I once had a cat and dog that use to snuggle together. Very cute! But, when I was pregnant, I found my cat allergies were far worse than ever, so we gave the cat to my niece. I was then able to see Rusty, the cat, and have the best of both worlds. Now, my husband feeds feral cats in the neighborhood, which at one point got waaay out of control. They kept reproducing and one year, we must have had 25 cats/kittens running around. The neighbors called animal control & we had to limit our feeding to only 2. Now, a lady down the street takes care of them in her yard and they seem to have all gone her way. Is your cat an indoor cat only? Is there a way to switch the cat to the Florida room and not have the problem? Some cats seem to be able to adjust to their being more confined. I found that we are basically more dog people than cat people. We can do more with a dog than a cat.....walks and play etc. So, what it really comes down to, is what you desire more to have around you with this problem you're having. Did you call the breeder regarding that clause? Even if it's not in the contract, most breeders would prefer first shot at rehoming. I wish you luck.....you seemed to love Loopy so much! I would hate to be in your shoes.
