How many times a day does your dog...

go poo?

I know it's a funny question, but I'm just not sure what is normal as this is our first dog. Katey is 8 months old now and about 30 lbs. She used to go #2 many times throughout the day...4-5 times actually. Then for the past few months she has gone twice a day regularly..once in the morning and once in the evening. Now suddenly for the past few days she is only going once per day (in the morning).

Is once per day normal?

It depends. Sometimes Bogart can go 3-4 times........other times maybe only once.

since we ve got a doggy door i can only count the big piles to determine how many time s Toby has a poop..

as far as i can tell is that he poops twice a day outside in the backyard..*after each meal*..and every now and then he ll have another while on a walk...

We don't have a doggy door, but I watch Bogart constantly.....unlike hubbster.

I like to clean up after each one so there are no surprises!

Bogart has a few friends who just pop in and one thing I can say, is it's always clean out there.
But, I'd have to say, Bogart is about like Toby......and they're almost the exact same age. Bogart will be FOUR on Monday!! ....the 26th. When is Toby's Bday?

Daisy goes 2 times a day for the most part, once in awhile 3 times. The vet once told me they should go as many times as they eat. Hope that helps!

As of recently, since Ace hit 9 months he is more regular.

3x morn, noon, 5 p.m.

Too much?

He eats 2x/day.

just to clarify that is 3x total - not 3x in the morn plus noon and eve as that WOULD be too much!

Haha! Ace's place, I definitely read it wrong and thought "uh oh

" I remember when Daisy was going about 10 x day (literally) but I kind of thought that was normal for a puppy, that's when my vet said "whoa, only a few times day is the average, and basically they should go as many times as they eat". That's when we realized the beginning of all of Daisy's issues that thankfully she's mostly outgrown (with the exception of the bump in the road this week of vomit and diarrhea).

As for Malcolm he's 5 months old now and it just depends I guess on...I don't know what?? He will go up to 4 or 5 times a day sometimes and sometimes just twice.

thanks guys. That helps. From reading your posts about number of times coincides with number of feedings, I think I figured it out. We just switched Katey from 3 meals a day to 2 meals a day a few days ago and that's probably what has caused her to go less frequently now. Makes sense. I hadn't thought of that.
