Default Barking is driving me crazy

Brenna is a sweet pup, house broken and loving.
But... when she wants Kali dog to play she barks at Kali like crazy. Kali is 11 and will play a lot, but when she doesn't want to play Brenna yips and barks at her to play.
How can I stop her? It's not a real bark, but high pitched yip.

Geri

LOL I laugh because I feel your pain Malcolm does the same thing to Piper, my mom and dad's doxi. She's 6, a lot smaller than Malcolm, but she still plays with him, but she doesn't want to play as much as he does obviously. So when she's done he starts that high pitched yipping.. He kinda sounds like a monkey actually.

I get him to stop by playing with him myself.

Me too, I play with Jasper if Tux is too tired to play!! haha

Tux is now 10yrs and Jasper is almost 7 months and is always trying to engage Tux in play. Tux will for about 10 minutes at a time throughout the day, but that's not enough!!

Tux will just ignore the barking and never tell him to stop, lol...If I were him and I had an annoying little brother harassing me all the time, I'd sure tell him to knock it off!!!

good luck, Geri...until the older dog tells him to quit, I don't think he will

it was easy to teach Toby not to go thru the door without a tap behind the head..same with sidewalk curb..using the STOP command he stop in his tracks and await the next command..

this extended into his barking..when he d start barking at someone at the door id say STOP follow d with a goodboy..when barking out at the UPS van..its STOP follow d with a OK..

it began with with me talking with Toby..sitting him down and barking at each other..then it d be STOP then a GOODBOY..it take s a while..but, they re smart and will pickup soon..

it s an ongoing process teaching them it s OK to be a dog..just not here at this time..but, later it ll be OK and they ll look forward to it..

You can try teaching her to bark on command. Then you should be able to stop the bark as well. I haven't done this because Molly is not a barker at all but my daughter trained her border collie that way and it works!
