Hi there,
I am new to the "Doodle World" and have a few questions. How long did it take your doodle to adjust to his or her new home? What kind of food do you feed your Doodle for growth and size of Standard Doodle? Do you take your Doodle to the dog park? How old was your Doodle when you got him or her? And finally, weird I know but does your Doodle like water? |

hi there! our puppy is now 8 months old. It took her about 5 days to adjust to our house before she stopped looking all confused and disoriented and whining looking for her mama and littermates. She was 8 weeks old when we brought her home...little bundle of fur! She has food allergies so we feed her royal canin medi-cal hypoallergenic kibble and add some fish oils to it and sometimes a hardboiled egg. Yes we take her to the dog park. She loves it. She absolutely loves water...definitely a swimmer that's for sure! What about yours?

We just got our Bailey here a few weeks ago. She is 3 months. Took about the same amount of time as above to adjust to the house and surroundings. I have yet to take her to a dog park, but she LOVES to go to Petco and Petsmart. Absolutelly loves other people and dogs. Its simply amazing honestly. We feed her wellness brand food, but will be switching to solid gold. The wellness gives her HORRID, LIVING ROOM CLEARING GAS!! I mean its bad!! So after this food is gone, Solid Gold it is.

Hello and welcome!
I guess my Bogart is the oldie here, so far. He will be 4 on Monday. We got him at 9 weeks & started training him immediately to be a Service/Therapy Dog. He has 4 jobs! He adjusted right away, well, after a few nights of whining and yipping in his crate. We stopped taking him to a dog park within a year........too messy and not much control by owners. He has more play dates here or at other people's houses. After a couple different foods, we switched to Orijen. He does really well on that. He isn't around water enough to LOVE it, but enjoys it when we take him to lake Michigan. he loves running down the beach and jumping in the water where his feet can touch the sand below. What's up with yours? How old etc?

Hiya! Malcolm was 9 weeks old when I brought him home. I guess it took about the same amount of time mentioned above for him to adjust.
We do go to the dog park just about every night and he does really well. He's a mini/small doodle. He does love to mess around in the water bowl and water fountain at the park. He hasn't had an opportunity to really get into a lake or pool or other body of water yet. It seems like he would really enjoy it, though. Actually I lied there was a little doggie pool at the park once when we went and he jumped right in. I'm still looking for the right food for Malcolm actually. He became uninterested in eating the Nutro Natural Choice so I went to Wellness and just got him switched over completely this week. Now it seems he doesn't want that kind either ?? He didn't do too good with Orijen, it gave him the trots |

Hi there, and welcome.
I have had 2 doodles, Barney our old guy died 3 years ago aged 15. He ate anything! And he was a therapy dog too. He also emigrated from the UK to NZ with us. He loved loved loved water, he would dive right under the water to collect stones from river beds, his whole head would go under. If there was no water he would try and get into cattle troughs and even buckets! As he was huge, this was hilarious! He never went to dog parks as we didn't have them in the UK, although i think there is one here in Christchurch. We live on a beach, so we go there. Ruff is now 21 weeks old, and is a phantom labradoodle. Sadly our waterways here are polluted by sewage since the quake and they are off limits until we get new sewers, so i do not know about water. I hope he will be a water dog too. Ruff is fed raw 'prey model' and is doing very well. he took about 4 or 5 days to settle in and he has bonded very well to the whole family. He is a friendly, happy go lucky puppy, who takes all in his stride. he responds well to positive training techniques, in particular clicker training. We got Barney at 7 weeks (that was the norm back then) and Ruff at 8 weeks which seems to be the norm nowadays. |

Brenna is a little over 5 months and she adapted right away. She whined a little the first night and that was all.
I've been feeding her Nutro Natural for large breed puppies and may try the Kirkland if it's good. She eats fine, plays fine and is a pretty good girl. Her vet advised no dog parks or public outings until after she had all her shots and to wait a couple of weeks after that. She drinks a lot of water but so does her Mom from what the breeder told me. I did take her to the beach and she wasn't sure about the ocean. Can't let her into fresh water in Florida, too many gators. I feel very lucky, she is a pretty good girl for a 5 month old puppy. |
