Default Dry Coat???

OK I don't know if you guys remember but Loopy had that weird bacterial infection going on on his elbows to which the Vet prescribed antibiotics and a special shampoo (antimicrobial/ antifungal) along with a conditioner. His coat now seems to be rough and thinner in some spots. He had started to loose his puppy fuzz so I don't know if the rougher hair is normal or is because of the shampoo. What can I do to improve his coat??? He used to be so soft and fluffy!

Ask your vet about his food you give him.
Also, there is a salmon oil squirt bottle our friends use and put on their dogs food.
We give Bogart a 1000 mg of fish oil in his food rather than the squirt.

I think this bacterial infection, even though it's ran it's course, has still affected his coat. I would believe that in time, this should resolve itself and the beautiful coat will come back as the new coat grows in.
Also, each time you have him groomed, you will be having his older, coarser hair cut off and the revitalized coat coming back.
It's kinda like humans. Our hair is effected by meds we take. That's why they can determine what is in our system by analyzing a strand of hair.
Be patient, and I think all will be well after some time has passed. But, in the meantime, check into the food and add some fish oil.

Nutra Sea makes a fish oil blend especially for dogs. It's called NutraSea - Canine. It is in liquid format. We put in 1/4 teaspoon twice a day to her food. Helps keep her coat softer and seems to even make her better behaved! You can get it at health food stores. There is a people version and a dog version.

Hey Linda, add a 400mg cap of Vit E with that fish oil daily...
Don't remember exactly, but there was something about using the vit E with the fish oil to help the oil do it's job.
I have been doing it for a long, long time.... my doggy's coats shine & are so soft!
