We have a 13 week old Aussie Labradoodle. We were taking her out every hour the first couple weeks we had her so she could go potty. She was accident free for over a week. Then, we started stretching it to 1.5 hours. She was doing great! just about 2 weeks and no accidents. Then, Saturday my husband got engrossed in watching a movie
Ok, so I thought we were doing so well and this past week has been not so well. Just to give you some logistical info - we have her crate in the living room, which opens to our dining room. Those are the only 2 rooms that she has access to roam. It's not that big and they are pretty much one long room. And, she is pretty much never left alone and often prefers to hang with whomever is in the room. So, someone tell me this is all normal and it too shall pass. What else can I be doing or am I doing things ok and it's just that I have a 13 week old puppy? |

sounds like you are doing a great job ! 13 weeks is still very young so you will get the odd accident, especially after playing or training.
We used the jingle bells on the back door and trained Spike to ring them to go outside, you could try that but i think you are doing the right thing with the routine of 1 - 2 hour trips outside. Gradually you can stretch that out so that she learns bladder control . Good luck ! |

Well.....as they say, but differently..."pee happens"!
If you read one of my last posts, I just explained how ticked off I was when I was spending hours at the hospital with my dad and my husband had to take care of Bogart....who also peed on the dining room rug because he, as well, was engrossed in a movie or something! Guys......don't be offended, K? But SOME guys just don't get it!! Bottom line, this is still a pup. It sounds like you're doing a great job. One thing I'd like to add is that after Bogart peed on that rug, I took it to the cleaners and didn't put it back down for quite some time until I KNEW he was housebroke! This too shall pass.
