Default he's going grey :c

New to the forum; I'm a very happy "aunty" to a beautiful one year old 50-50 Australian Labradoodle pup, who's an absolute star and has made our entire family fall in love with the breed.

His coat, however, is going grey it seems;

Is this normal? Seems a little peculiar though of course, it only gives him dignified stature

Jasper is getting a greyish white tail...he is all chocolate and a sprinkling of the greyish white on his back, too...

it's kinda weird but I guess its normal

My poodles, back when I had them (last one passed in 2005), they had grey wiry hairs throughout their coats...but their overall color was red...so I'm thinking it is just a poodle trait

Thanks for the replies! I was wondering what was going on with him.

'clearing to silver' really does sound lovely - will have to scuttle off and google it!

Your buddy is turning "Blue". It's actually a quite stunning color.
When younger, they don't quite look black...a little off, kinda like a black licorice color.
With silver, when they are a couple months old, you will see then turn a silver color around their face first.
Blue can take 2-3 yrs to fully change...
If you look at my avatar, my guy Marley (in the middle) is Blue.... )
Here is an excellent article on Blues...

I just noticed a patch of while looking hairs on Malcolm's tail. It's not quite 4 months old yet.

Here's a not so great pic...at first I thought he was losing his hair there. I thought the white hair was skin lol.

Bogart's 4 legs are completely silvery-beige. His back & tail are pure black, and his ears, mop on the top and muzzle are a mixture of black, deep reddish brown (beard) with an enhancement of a chocolate........how's that for a tye dyed doodle at 3?

Our little girl is 7 months old and when we first brought her home she was a deep chocolate brown color. SHe has continuously lightened and now is a very light, light brown. They call it a "cafe au lait" color apparently. And she has these wiry blondish hairs coming through all over the place. She is so cute, she looks like she has blonde summer hi-lights! (She is an F1B, and the color change is a poodle thing)

I got to looking at Malcolm outside and noticed he has these blonde or white hairs all over as well deep in his coat. He's still got his puppy coat of course. His face has always been much lighter than the rest of him...which I read is a sign that he might be cafe au lait colored too.

I guess we'll see Whatever color he ends up being he'll still be so very handsome!
