Default 9 week old puppy sleeping A LOT!

hello.
i have a 9 week old puppy that sleeps quite a bit during the day. he gets up around 6:30, plays for 1 1/2-2 hours, then sleeps...then wakes up for 45 mins or so, then sleeps. up again for lunch, then sleeps. in the late afternoon he'll be up for a few hours with a quick nap. then down to bed at 9:30-10.

is this normal? my breeder says the puppies were taking 2 naps a day!!! he takes many!!! could there be something wrong?

at night he gets crazy and wild. he'll jump, bite, dig, walk ...all the things a puppy does.
thanks for your advice.

I think this is normal. They are just like babies. They need lots of sleep. Malcolm is almost on the same schedule you described above except he is up at 5am (!!!!!!). He's 13 weeks old.

Other pups I've had were the same way. My lab and my German Shepard I got as puppies they were both around 3 - 4 months old and I remember them sleeping quite a lot as well.

We will take a short walk around the neighborhood a couple times a day and usually go to the dog park in the evening around 7:30ish (since it's so hot during the days here right now in Cincinnati, OH) for anywhere from 30 min to an hour depending on if there are any other dogs there for him to play with.

I think your puppy is fine, but let a few others chime in to be sure

My almost 11 weeks puppy sleeps a lot too, specially if he plays a lot when he is awake. If we go in car ride he will sleep the entire time

It is was the same for my puppy.

Jasper slept sooo much...he still sleeps more than I thought he would at almost 6 months old...

...my breeder told me ' they grow when they sleep '
lol...soo I'm letting sleeping dogs lie

And my vet said that it is good for them to sleep like that

So..no worries!!
