Question Does anyone know why my Labradoodle...

....does not bark that much?
He is 6 years old, and only barks rarely.
He sometimes barks at other dogs.
I dont know why he doesnt bark that much.
Does other Labradoodles do this?, or is it because mine is so good?
Note:My Labradoodle has a hip disease

I think it's just the Doodle! Bogart never barks so I had to encourage him to bark at strangers approaching the house. Now, he also barks in the yard....perhaps too much.
Bouviers don't bark much either.
In a way, it's a great trait in these dogs. Barking can drive neighbors crazy and make the unhappy with your dog.

My Daisy is not a barker. She's slowly barking more as she gets older (she's 20 mos old) but it's still not much at all. I'm actually glad she barks sometimes just to feel secure I guess if that makes any sense. Really, she only barks when she sees someone walking by our house or in the back of our house there's a walking path and she once in a while will bark at people going by. But just hanging out around the house and in the backyard she's very quiet. I just hope she'll be a watch dog if the moment ever arises! But to answer your question, I don't think it's unusual that your Labradoodle isn't a barker.

Malcolm just decided he wanted to start barking at people on the street or next door in the last few days. Trying to stop that barking and also let him know it's ok to bark if someone knocks on the door or comes into his yard. He's been barking during play for a couple weeks though.

It was funny last week I was watching the Daily Show and they were showing someone from the congress or senate can't remember. I guess Malcolm didn't like the looks of him because he stopped playing and started growling and backing up from the TV and ended up under the coffee table. He's 3 months old now.

Layla isn't a barker either. She barks if someone is at the door like a good little guardian. Occasionally she will bark at me while playing and it's the funniest thing because her face is like, did I just make that noise? Haha.

I have friends with dogs, quite a few friends, where their dogs just bark, at nothing, for no reason, consider it a blessing he doesn't bark!
