Sadie and I go to the dog park every morning. She's gotten pretty savvy about the other dogs, sussing out which are potential playmates and which are best avoided. She has a few puppy pals--dogs close to her in age that will play with her the way she wants to play (lots of wrestling and a little bit of chasing). She is always most attracted to dogs her own size, and approaches bigger dogs with caution--but she'll still approach them.
Yesterday and today, a man brought his Bouvier puppy--although at 10 months, this dog is already enormous--who is just the gentlest, sweetest lamb of a dog (looks like a gray sheep on steroids). Both days, Sadie went nuts when she saw this dog--barking and barking at him and then running away (all the way to the gate!). She's never reacted to any other dog this way--not the Irish Wolfhound, not the Great Danes, not the Great Pyrenees, not the Cane Corso (all of which she has played with, or at least tried to). Just wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of quirkiness at the dog park. It was pretty funny, and I'm not concerned about it. But except for its excessive fluffiness, I can't figure out what was different about this dog. |

LOL......I had a Bouvier and use to breed them with my friend.
They really are sweet, contrary to many opinions. Yes, I would say it was the fluffiness. Bogart tends to react this way to black fluffy dogs......not Labradoodles, but other breeds like this Pomeranian a neighbor has. They cut him with a Lion's head. It seems like Bogart just hates this dog and he barks every time he sees him. In fact, on walks, I have to keep telling Bogart to IGNORE. I have no idea what he would do if they came nose to nose.
