Default Shedding Doodle

Alfie is closing in on 18 months old, and has been looking pretty shaggy recently, so we decided to get him a haircut that would also help keep him cool during the warmer months. He has always been a pretty hefty shedder, with hair tumbleweeds forming within 2-3 days after vacuuming. We were hoping that the haircut might somehow help with the shedding (no logic behind this, just hoping!)..

Alfie got a haircut and has significantly shorter hair, but now it seems like he is shedding MORE! The hair he has started shedding is shorter, of course, but is now thinner and whispier, as opposed to some of the more coarse hairs he has always shed in the past.

Does anyone have any experiences with their doodle shedding in such a fashion? I don't think this is just post-haircut remnants either. If anyone has any suggestions to curtail the shedding (if possible), I'd love to hear those as well. It's not a HUGE deal that he sheds of course, but if there's a simple enough solution that I have missed, and I can avoid the tumbleweeds for longer periods of time, then I'm all for it! Thanks.
