Default How much do you have clipped when groomed?

We are taking Daisy to be professionally groomed this week. We've only done this one other time and she looked like a poodle when she came home Just wondering, how many of you actually have your doodle clipped or shaved? Or do you just have the groomer scissor cut/trim the body? Do they actually do that? The face and legs and feet I'll ask to have her scissor cut/trimmed, but am debating about her body/torso area. We have family coming into town in a few weeks that I want her to look good for and look like herself, just don't know if I'm sold on the totally clipped look. So how long do you let your doodle's hair actually get? Help!

i understand what kinda cut your looking for..same as I when i get a hair cut..cut enough so i don t look like its been cut lately..

i don t take Toby to the groomers..rather i do it myself..using a thinning tool..it seems his coat stay s around 3 inch s all around the body and
a little longer on his head and face..

then i scissor cut his beard, ears, and feet..though the body does nt look
like he s recently gotten a groom..people think he has by seeing his nicely trim d areas..

Exactly!! Another case of me humanizing my dog We trimmed around her eyes and face recently and she looked good, but she looks so scruffy again that I think it's time for a good grooming which I think we'll do about twice a year. My friend stopped by last week and commented on how scraggly she looks, I picked up the phone and called the groomer as soon as she left! I guess I probably didn't realize how scruffy she got over the winter.

Thanks for your help! We'll continued to trim her ourselves on her face between her groomings.

In the warmer months, I ask for a puppy cut on Bogart's body. But, I ask them to leave his top of his head, eyebrows, beard/muzzle longer.....and also his legs.
They should be able to do this so he doesn't have the poodle look yet blend it all in. Find a picture of a doodle that you like, print it and take it to them. I have one somewhere and if I find it, I'll post.

I had winston done, he was cut to 1/2 inch on body, sanitary shaved, the legs are left to about an inch or a bit longer. his face was cleaned up to match his body. I reminded the groomers over and over, and over again that I did NOT want him looking like a poodle. He looks waaaay better and no way near a poodle, he doesnt have a poodlepuff and things arent sticking to his hair (twigs, dirt, mud). I am going to try and get a photo, but I think its just his face.

ok they are in the photo part

Thanks everyone for your input! I appreciate it, I don't know why I'm having such anxiety over this, lol! I guess because I like the natural scruffy doodle look, Daisy reminds me of a Fraggle Rock character But realistically, it's time to be cleaned up.

Winston is DARLING!!!!! And doesn't look like a poodle at all, your groomer did a very nice job. I'll try my best to remember and take a before and after picture.

Thanks!!

Thanks! Just remember it is hair, grows back just as with "most" humans. The shorter the hair, the less maintenance. They dry alot faster too!
