I have a 5 month chocolate wavy fleece coat LD - he has been to the groomer a couple of times for a bath and tidy but his coat has not been trimmed. At what age should he get his first full hair cut and what length should it be? Thank you!

since he s never had his puppy cut..that might be the way to go for the first cut..make room for the transition to his adult coat..

Thanks deepnite10 - that's a great info sheet for the groomer - can you tell me at what age the adult coat starts to come in? If he has a wavy coat now, will it become curly? I guess each dog is different - he is a multi gen so we are not sure. Thanks again for the info.

Toby started blowing his coat around 9 mos...and by time he was
a yr. old the adult coat was complete.. he had gone from curly to a more fleece/wavy coat.. i did nt particularly like the puppy cut..he ended up looking more like a poodle with stick legs.. it did make it easier to deal with hair falling all over the place during the blowing period..after his puppy cut i took a Coat King a thin d out the undercoat..since then i ve only gone back to the groomer once..and thin out the coat 3 time s a yr..and take a sccisor s to the uneven spots and face and ear s.. i do, do alot of detailing..sometime s daily keeping the belly shaved and keeping the ear clean and trim d..
